I am writing to share my disappointment regarding my recent stay at Fairmont Hanoi. As a loyal Hyatt and Marriott member who frequently stays at luxury hotels around the world, this was my very first experience with an Accor property. I chose Fairmont Hanoi with high expectations, believing that the Fairmont brand would deliver the same level of luxury, consistency, and exceptional service that I have come to expect from other internationally renowned luxury hotel brands. Unfortunately, my experience was a significant disappointment from the moment I arrived. One of the most frustrating issues throughout my stay was the room key card. It repeatedly failed to work, requiring multiple trips back to the front desk just to regain access to my room. This happened on several occasions and became increasingly frustrating, especially after a long day outside the hotel. For a newly opened luxury hotel, something as fundamental as room access should work flawlessly. Instead, it created unnecessary inconvenience and reflected poorly on the hotel’s operational standards. To make matters worse, my room (Room 444) also had a defective bathtub. Every time I used it, water leaked onto the bathroom floor, leaving a large puddle outside the tub. Besides being extremely inconvenient, it created a potential safety hazard due to the slippery floor. This is the kind of maintenance issue that should have been identified and resolved before the room was ever assigned to a guest. It was surprising and disappointing to encounter such a basic quality issue in a hotel that positions itself as a luxury property. What disappointed me even more was that these issues did not appear to be handled with the level of urgency or attention I would expect from a five-star hotel. As a guest paying a premium rate, I expected proactive service and swift resolution, not repeated inconveniences over matters that should never have occurred in the first place. Throughout the stay, while individual staff members were polite and courteous, the overall service lacked the polish, consistency, and attention to detail expected of the Fairmont brand. Luxury hospitality is about delivering a seamless experience where guests never have to worry about operational shortcomings. Instead, I found myself dealing with avoidable problems that significantly detracted from my stay. Most importantly, the price I paid simply did not justify the value I received. Fairmont positions itself as a premium luxury brand, and the nightly rate certainly reflects that positioning. When guests choose to pay a premium, they are paying not only for elegant accommodations but also for flawless execution, impeccable maintenance, and outstanding service. Sadly, my experience fell well short of those expectations. This was my first stay at an Accor luxury property, and regrettably, it has left me questioning whether I would consider staying with the brand again. I genuinely wanted this stay to introduce me to the Accor portfolio on a positive note, but instead it became one of the most disappointing luxury hotel experiences I have had. I hope my feedback is taken seriously and viewed as an opportunity to improve. A luxury hotel’s reputation is built not only on its facilities but also on its ability to consistently deliver the fundamentals without compromise. Based on my experience, Fairmont Hanoi did not meet the standard expected of a hotel in this category, nor did it justify the premium price charged. Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback.
