I stayed at the Novotel Mangga Dua Square for 10 days. At first, I thought the room was just okay, although it felt a bit stuffy. The smell was masked by the AC, so I didn't notice. But during my stay, for the first six days, my asthma flared up every night. I didn't suspect it was the room at all. Until the eighth day, I asked to be moved. It turned out to have a damp smell and worse air circulation than the first room. At first, I accepted. That night, besides the asthma, I also had a runny nose. My roommate, who is allergic to dust, also started to react. Then, when we visited our friend's room, we realized that the room's smell and air quality should be ideal. So we asked to be moved to another room, one with better air circulation and a fresher smell. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night in that "okay" room. I thought it was just a health issue, but I remembered that at the same event, I also stayed at the Novotel. And for three days, I also had shortness of breath every night. Now I'm sure it was the room. Because when I moved hotels and returned home, my asthma didn't flare up. It's important to note that my asthma hasn't flared up in years. That's why I never carry inhalers, etc. The service, etc., were fine. But as for the room condition, don't hesitate to ask to move if it's damp or smelly.

Great hotel, stayed here many times when visiting family. The staff is attentive and gets things done quickly. The hotel is however starting to show its age, while the furniture and bathrooms are still in a good shape, the carpets are in a desperate need of a deep cleaning or replacing, considering the last refurb was done about 9 years ago. Same goes for the walls, desperately in need of a fresh hand of paint. The towels and bathrobes just need to be replaced, they are no longer fit for purpose and generally smelled damp. Keep up the good work and hope to see you again next year.

The pool was clean and satisfying. Breakfast was good. However, I did not like the smoking smell in my room as well as the corridor. Novotel is very well known, I don’t think smoking is allowed inside the area. The pillows sheets must be changed… they are already too old.
