it started off well as I had planned to propose and was allowed an early check-in and the staff was courteous and polite. However, once we checked in, there were a few things which I felt were not value for money e.g. the shower did not provide hot water and the pressure wasn't great, I tried to get some water and was asked to pay $12 which is absolutely shocking given the nightly room charges and the fact that it's a 5 star hotel. Overall I did not feel like this was good value for money

We had a lovely stay at the Fairmont!
From the Arrival where Lenny took our luggage with the biggest smile, to Francois do the check in and bringing us to the room explaining very interesting details about the hotel. We also had a lovely dinner at Terrasse du Petit Palais were Nikos did a wonderful job throughout the evening.
I would like to give my complements to Lenny for always checking in how we are doing when we left the hotel and arrived back giving us a feel of coming home to a big smile. As well as Francois who went out of his way to explain everything and suggest a great place for a casual dinner by the water. Not to forget Nikos who was extremley attentive at dinner, making sure my intolerances were not forgotten.
Our overall stay was great however the breakfast service could be improved. They were very fast with removing empty plates but did not ask if we wanted any eggs or another coffee. We had to request this and sometimes the staff would say they would be back but forgot to come back until 20 minutes later. This could be improved in the future.

We were a bit disappointed with our room but it had a partial lake view which was nice as we booked a room with a city view. There were a few issues with the shower but overall it was a nice hotel.

The room was very confortable and the breakfast was exceptional.
However, the facilities in the areas surrounding the hotel need renovation. And security also needs improvement. Anyone can access the hotel elevators without keys, even if they are not staying there. Finally, we had an unforeseen problem: our flight was canceled at the last minute, and we lost the first night at the hotel, which was already paid for. The hotel didn't even bother to contact us and didn't offer a refund for the first night, even after I explained that the flight was canceled at the last minute due to an unexpected problem with the plane. Not even a partial refund from the hotel was offered. We paid for two nights, but only used one.

We regret the frustration this situation caused and recommend contacting your airline or travel insurance provider, who may be able to assist further.

As always, we greatly enjoy staying at the Montreux Palace. The overall facility, restaurants, and service are exceptional. However we were greatly disappointed in our room this time. It was unbelievably small. When first seeing the room, I then approached the front desk to request a larger room. However there was someone in front of me speaking with the reception, complaining of the same issue, with no success. I would appreciate if someone could please let me know the square footage of my room.
