The hotel is in a perfect location for staying in central Madrid, between Retiro and Sol. Good design and comfort with a fine (though no natural light) breakfast room. Alas, if you are not planning to party all night in Madrid but use the hotel to sleep: our first floor allocated room was severely affected by nightly people/goods movement from the hotel & neighbouring building (not so much the road) which made our stay not very relaxing... The noise exposure of this room would probably have affected most guests, but allocating the specific room despite requesting a high floor/quiet room in booking comment, prior email and discussing with the check-in staff was a disappointing experience.

This was my second stay at this hotel, and it remains a great location. I shall most likely return for that reason. Perhaps the hotel was full, it didn’t seem very busy, but I was given what must be the noisiest and worst room in the building at the moment, thanks to building work going on just the other side of a thin wall. The hotel must certainly have been aware. The hammering and drilling began at 7am and continued until the early evening each day of our stay. At no time was this inconvenience acknowledged by reception staff, and I was actually astonished when I asked for a checkout one hour later than the usual noon time, to be offered only 30 minutes. When we checked out, without bothering to use those truly ungenerous thirty minutes, we were the only clients in reception, and still no one asked how our stay had been. I would have mentioned the noise discretely and suggested no one else be given that room unless the hotel was completely full, but as no one bothered to ask at the time, I mention it here.

The staff was excellent ! From check in to breakfast area, all very friendly and helpful. The rooms could use better soundproofing on the walls and doors. You can hear all noise from your neighbors, coughing and having fun in bed. ☺️Overall all was clean as well. Very good quality bedding blankets and firm pillows. Thank you !

We enjoyed the stay, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were curious with our check in experience though. There were 2 staff present, a woman and a man. The man appeared to be the more experienced staff member, maybe the manager? The female staff member was busy checking in another guest, but the man did not assist us with checkin, but rather let us wait 10 minutes until the female staff member was free. Very strange. The room and housekeeping staff were good, the room was well eqipped and very clean. The only negative we experienced was the design of the cupboard in the room - it has a sharp edge on the corner. In the middle of the night after a toilet visit, I was trying not to wake my partner and was returning to bed in the dark. I accidentally ran into the cupboard and it gashed my forehead and nose badly. There was lots of blood, but it stopped bleeding eventually. My partner rushed to reception and the staff were helpful with Bandaids.

Regarding your check-in experience, I would like to clarify that I am the Front Office Manager. After reviewing the staff schedules for both your check-in and your stay, I can confirm that the gentleman you mentioned was actually our Bell Boy, not a Receptionist. Nevertheless, I completely understand why this situation felt unusual. I will speak with the team to ensure that, in similar situations, guests waiting to be checked in are informed that we will assist them as soon as possible. This is exactly what should have happened, and I am sorry that this was not communicated to you. I was also very sorry to read about the accident you had with the cupboard in your room. I hope you recovered quickly and that the injury was not too serious. Please be assured that I will discuss your comments with our Maintenance team to see how we can improve this aspect and help prevent similar incidents in the future. Front Desk - Excellent Cleanliness - excellent Service - excellent Housekeeping - for 3 days in the row , creating a big noise in the morning while vacuuming and cleaning , extremely rough and slamming the doors, moving chairs and so on.. Room - walls are extremely thin, as we could hear guests talking next door and this is is on constant daily at 3 or 4 AM in the morning.
