Dear Sir or Madam, We are writing to formally express our serious dissatisfaction with the service we received during our recent stay at ibis Styles Madrid Centro. Unfortunately, our experience fell significantly below the standards expected from an international hospitality brand and warrants the attention of headquarters. From the moment of our arrival and throughout our stay, the conduct of a male receptionist with visible arm tattoos (believed to be named Iñaki, on duty on January 2 at lunchtime and January 4 at approximately 8:00 p.m.) was consistently unwelcoming, dismissive, and confrontational. His behavior was wholly inappropriate for a front-facing role and made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. It is particularly concerning that he appears to hold a relatively senior position, which raises questions about whether such conduct is being adequately addressed at the property. In addition, we were given unclear and misleading information regarding the availability of lobby coffee, tea, and snacks. Based on previous guest reviews, and given that our room did not include a kettle or tea/coffee facilities, we understood that complimentary refreshments were available in the lobby. When we helped ourselves to coffee, this male receptionist with tattoos shouted at us and demanded payment of €2 per cup. The issue was not the cost, but rather the manner in which it was handled. Policies regarding guest amenities should be clearly communicated, visibly signposted, and applied consistently—not enforced abruptly or at the discretion of individual staff members. Most concerning was the noticeable difference in how I was treated compared to other guests. This disparity was deeply uncomfortable and raised serious concerns about possible discriminatory behavior. The receptionist’s tone, body language, and overall demeanor were unprofessional and unacceptable under any circumstances. Overall, the combination of poor communication, discourteous service, and questionable conduct has left us with a lasting negative impression of the hotel and, by extension, the ibis Styles brand. This is not the level of service we expect. We respectfully but firmly urge headquarters to take this complaint seriously. We expect a thorough review of the incidents described, appropriate corrective action, and reinforced training and accountability at the property. Guests should never be made to feel unwelcome, disrespected, or treated inconsistently. We look forward to a formal response outlining the steps that will be taken to address this matter and prevent similar occurrences in the future. Yours faithfully, Michelle C.

Very positive - the location is excellent, close to the Metro and a lively neighbourhood on the doorstep with many bars/restaurants. Hotel is new, rooms are nicely finished, not many extras but great price/quality balance. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
