Not the first time I stay in Novotel Madrid Center, and it won't be the last. Modern Hotel, well maintained, with a nice breakfast and smiling and helping staff. Well located, close to Goya and Serrano, with plenty of shopping and dinign oprions around. Very conveniet for the bus from the Airport as the bus stop is very close. Metro at walking distance.

Very nice hotel, it's entrance and lobby are very stylish. I liked the outside courtyard. My room was comfortable with two made up single beds and very nice set up with everything else. Breakfast was a lovely variety and good hours offered. The reason for the average stay rating was for the reason that it seemed they did want us to stay but not use the services. Laundry service is offered but so expensive that to do my laundry elsewhere was the equivalent of just getting my socks washed. To WiFi would cut out too and stop working for a few minutes then come back to life in cycles. I also had to ask about everything. They had a QR code but it didn't tell you when breakfast hours were or where things/services were. Staff were very helpful, kind and professional but I felt like I was annoying them unnecessarily with things that could have been in the QR code as while they helped, they were very busy.

Unfortunately, the room air-conditioning was not working at all. Preset temp did not reduce the room temp to 21 deg. All other services absolutely perfect. Breakfast really tasteful with a rich selection.

Hotels in Madrid were apparently fully booked during week 39, and prices had gone through the roof. Room was OK, "standard chain hotel room". Price and room didn't quite meet - about 360 €/night is expensive. Breakfast arrangement needs rethinking. Placing "stations" here and there creates frustration to find items. Space between tables is insufficient, it wasn't really increasing appetite in two-person table when someone squeezes himself by the table almost placing his rump on my breakfast plate.. :( Elevators are horribly slow, especially positioning themselves to the floor. Hydraulic elevators usually are slowish, but these were something unbelievable Otherwise the hotel has good location, rooms are decent, but not really Novotel -quality what I have experienced with other stays in Novotel hotels. Evidently the place suffers from 70's "architecture". Breakfast itself was excellent with good variety of items - when you were able to find them. Staff was friendly and very welcoming.
