We were given a pork product as a welcome gift. We returned it, citing the fact we are vegetarian. No attempt made by hotel staff to replace it. The extraction fan in our bathroom was very noisy. We highlighted this, and it was fixed the next day, which is great. But it shouldn’t have happened in the first place, and no effort to make amends was made, even after I told them we had two nights of interrupted sleep. We were extremely disappointed with having to walk through a cloud of second hand smoke each time we entered and existed the hotel. Staff told us the other entrances were for emergencies only. I can’t imagine why the hotel won’t simply ask smokers to stand away from the entrance so that the majority of their guests, who don’t smoke, including children, don’t have to inhale second hand smoke. As an international company, I expect better from Accor. Lastly, the front desk staff were professional but lacked warmth and basic human courtesy. Other staff, such as bar and cleaners, were excellent. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again.

It's always a very comfortable stay here at the Novotel Madrid. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious for European standards and the bed was comfortable. The room was very clean, maybe adding a tissue box in the washroom would be bonus. Fantastic location!!

I was part of a tour group that stayed at the Madrid hotel. I found the towels thin, I had to slam the room door in order to get it to latch properly and the bathroom floor was not totally clean. I would like to point out that the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was well lit.

Horrible experience. We stayed here as part of a wedding party booked. We took a shower on the 7th floor as soon as we arrived. Shower flooded. Front desk had maintenance come. Plumber removed trap on floor, stuck a mop in it, human waste came out of the sink drains. The room smelled like a public bathroom. Room was cleaned over an hour later. Then next morning, the toilet wouldn’t flush. I spoke with Enrique at front desk who insisted we have the plumbing fixed again. I explained we wanted a new room. Enrique argued and insisted we stay in the room because it had nice views. I had to explain to Enrique for ten minutes why having a toilet that flushed and a shower that drained was more important. He then said I should wait for maintenance and see what they say. I explained it wasn’t my job to talk with maintenance about a hotel repair. Enrique kept insisting we stay in that room since it was so much nicer and had better view of the street. I asked him if it was important to him to have a toilet that worked, he didn’t respond. I have never had my intelligence insulted to this degree in all my travels. Enrique said it would take hours to get us a new room. I said that was okay-we will stay in the hotel lobby until it’s ready. Then he said the hotel was fully booked. Then suddenly there was a room free. The new room was smaller but the plumbing was perfect and worked as it should, we were happy. We then discovered the new room door doesn’t automatically lock. Front desk said they would fix it. They didn’t, you have to slam the door extremely hard. My family and I wasted so much time with the front desk who treated us horribly. I will never stay at this hotel again and would not recommend to any of my friends.

Small but comfortable rooms! Loved the child beds included in the room. There are two small playgrounds in a nearby plaza that were super ideal for eating meals out! Staff was very nice and accommodating! They let us in our room 3 hours early, which was very much appreciated after traveling for 20 hours. Trip from the airport in taxi was about 15 min.
