Arrived a little early but our room was ready. Receptionist was pleasant and explained the lift and car park. Room was overlooking Horizon port where my ship was due next day. Preferred the option of twin beds as my son stayed overnight after a long drive down. 10 minute walk to the dock with my case. Busy dual carriageway to cross but traffic light controlled. I would choose this hotel again.

We've previously stayed in the Ibis budget across the car park but decided to pay extra for our stay this time which was for the night before our cruise. Unfortunately the prices for the rooms had been EXTREMELY inflated which I'm presuming was because of the boat show which was on. As soon as we entered the reception we were welcomed by a lovely member of staff, she took our payment and explained the necessities to us. I was rather distracted at this point by the horrible smell which was wafting from the open entry door from the toilets in the reception area. We were disappointed by the quality of the room, we had stains on the carpets, paint peeling off the doors and parts of the wooden furniture were also damaged. We payed £165 for this room for one night (we booked a year in advance) and the rates advertised outside the hotel for that night were for £250 plus! Honestly, we aren't fussy but we just expected a nicer room for what we were charged. We much preferred our stay in the Ibis budget, it wasn't as grotty and was cheaper. We didn't ask to be moved as we didn't see the point as we were only staying for one night and we presumed that the room quality would probably be the same throughout the hotel. The breakfast the following morning was ok, unfortunately the smell from the toilets was off putting. All in all we wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Just 3 negatives, else all positive:- 1. Internet coverage was really poor. 2. Please have cakes of soap available. You only provide these fancy shampoos, I cannot be alone in using low-tech soap! You had none when I asked for it, had to go across the road to get some from Boots, ugh! 3. Didn't use hotel restaurant for evening meal as it closed too early, 9pm. As it was a short walking distance from the city centre I found enough eating choices there. As I said in my title, otherwise I got what I needed, basically a convenient and suitable place to park myself, for in my case attending the British Science Festival, held in the Highfield campus (bus stop easily to hand) or in Above Bar Street. Breakfast superb!

Staff service was good; however the room was unsatisfactory. There were no hand towels, kleenex box or face cloths. The sink did not work properly ( the drain stopper did not work, it was permanently open). The shower was extremely weak.

No value for money anymore, obvious deterioration in hotel, breakfast was poor quality, nothing like previous visits (over last 10 years). The hotel is very run down, despite its prime quayside position. We even saw many, very big, rats running around the outside of the hotel and surrounding area. Yes it comes with the docks but we have never seen this many and around hotel before. The rooms themselves are hot with inadequate air conditioning and are extremely basic and tired looking, i feel sorry for those staying atbthe budget hotels if this is what we only get in the regular hotels. We are looking elsewhere for our annual (sometimes more), pre-cruise stay as we are not paying over 200.00 for what the IBIS has to offer.

The room was basic but clean and tidy. It had a comfortable bed and lovely pillows. It suited our needs as we were only using the hotel as a base. My only criticisim was that on entry to the hotel we noticed a smell from the toilets which were located in the reception. This was a bit off putting but otherwise fine

Good check in process, even though we did it online beforehand. Room was comfortable clean and bed comfy bathroom was ok, shower nice and hot. air-conditioning unit was not efficient at all if that's what it was, luckily had a fan in the room which helped. Parking was good and £12. Right across from horizon terminal were we was sailing from. All in all reasonable stay.
