I chose an Accor hotel as I have booked Cannes Novotel Suites for the past couple of years for colleagues for the Cannes Film Festival. I booked at Southampton for 2 nights. We were kept waiting at reception until we were finally acknowledged. We got to our room and there was no air-con. We went to reception to see about changing rooms and were told that the hotel does not have air-con. Our room was 29 degrees at 7.30pm at night and provided with a fan that plugged in. There was no apology. We were told that it was an air extractor fan not an air con unit and that is what they had been told to tell guests!!. The next day we left early as our train was at 6.50am to get to our destination. We came back around 7.30pm and noticed that the room had not been remade etc. We were not told at check in that the rooms would not remade or if we had to put a sign on the door to remake our room. We were not impressed and truly disappointed with our stay.

Stayed overnight. It was 30 degrees outside and probably 35+ inthe first room we were given. Was advised the room was really hot but no air con. and a fan was in the room so they were clearly aware of how hot the room was.. It was literally like an oven and the sun was streaming in. They said no air con in any room however, the unit was clearly visible and was just not working. A sign on it saying don't touch as risk of electric shock. We were moved to another room when we said it was unbearable...this was at least bearable but still boiling hot and a small broken fan in room, same situation with air con. The room was dirty, toilet seat filthy and holes in curtains. If all the rooms are like the two we saw then they need to spend a lot of money in bringing these up to scratch. Breakfast okay but nobody seemed to be allocated specific jobs so hot food trays were left empty until people at hotel pointed it out. In all, I'm glad we stayed only one night. The staff were very nice and not their fault, it is clearly poorly managed with zero investment to bring the rooms up into the 21st century! The reception area and dining area were lovely and cool with working air conditioning strangely enough. It's the paying guests in the rooms that were deemed not deserving of air conditioning.
