Scara100 Couples - TripAdvisor review

We stayed at this hotel for two nights, a week apart ( going and returning from France) The hotel is ideally located if you are catching the cross channel ferry. Ample sized car park first come first serve basis. A parking fee is payable. The hotel itself was lovely, modern, clean and the staff we met were lovely, friendly and pleasant on both stays. The rooms were spotlessly clean on both stays, and whilst small are functional, it's a city centre hotel, that's how room sizes generally go especially on the continent so people moaning about this need to get a bit of a grip. Due to our very early departure on our first stay we didn't have breakfast, which was a shame as on our return stay we did, excellent it was too, more than enough choice for anyone, and the food was good, very tasty and plenty of it. I wouldn't hesitate to stop here again if taking the ferry from the port. Reading some of the other reviews I'm not exactly sure what some people want and expect and I think moan for the sake of it.

Good location

Booked on Accor website- nightmare! Did not notice system had changed date until confirmation email. Tried to call central number provided- short message saying busy and cut off (incidentally tried many times subsequently and still the case- unbelievable). Eventually managed to find direct number for hotel and tried to change- not easy and had to pay £50 addition… Room clean and bed comfortable although shower so tiny unable to lather without soap washing off.

Disappointed

Three of us stayed one night we paid for breakfast wish we hadn’t food was bland , 3 staff hanging around some managers we sat with dirty dishes on our table, in fact nobody was clearing tables until people had left the tables. We stayed last June and had a much better experience

Lovely rooms and staff amazing

Husain our breakfast waiter was great. Nothing too much trouble. Made us feel very welcome with our small dog.

Small basic room uncomfortable bed (compared to Premier Inn). Very small en suite facilities such that it is difficult to sit squarely on the toilet, no toilet brush. Noisy hinges on metal bathroom door (rubbed soap on these in an attempt to stop this) that catches on the chair unless it is pushed to one end of the small desk. The round bathroom window has part of the catch missing and there is a noise of something starting and stopping all through the night. There are tea and coffee facilities in the room but when we filled one of the cups it was cracked and we had hot water all over the desk and floor. We poured what was left in the cup down the sink but for some reason the tea bag stained the sink. Looking at the cup it was clear the crack was an old one as it was stained and this had not been picked up by staff. When I asked for a replacement none were available and was given a different type from the breakfast area. The breakfasts were good but I was disappointed that the china cups were replaced by paper ones on the second day.
