The hotel opened in August 2025 so everything is still nice and new. I checked in with Quionara who was very friendly and patiently explained the workings of the hotel to me but it might be more efficient to give guests a printout of the locations and opening times of the facilities. She also gave me the number of a local laundry service called Noor Al Sharq which is just round the corner and when I called, the delivery man arrived within 10 minutes and brought my laundry back neatly folded and smelling nice the next day. I used them thoughout my stay at the Mercure then during my 2 week stay at the Sofitel Corniche and they would pick up and deliver at all hours, had reasonable prices and you could pay the delivery man by credit card. As a Platinum Accor member I was pleased to get an upgrade to a suite with a shower rather than a bathtub which I preferred except that it didn't have a vertical slide bar for the handheld shower, just a hook and as the water pressure was high, water went everywhere. There was an overhead rainfall shower too but that wasn't as good for washing my hair. Luckily housekeeping was excellent as they had a lot of water to mop up every day from my showers. The swimming pool on the 19th floor (take the lift to the left of the pair of lifts) is very small so you can't really have a good swim but I managed to swim 20 short lengths diagonally as not many people were in it. There were changing rooms by the pool but I preferred to have a shower in my room. There was a small gym on the 2nd floor along with a spa which only offered a basic massage. One evening I had a look in the nightclub on the same floor which had extremely loud music and was full of young ladies in skimpy outfits so I was out of there in two minutes. Breakfast was in the restaurant on the 1st floor and was quite good. From the window you could see the major construction work going on in front of the hotel which is likely to last for a long time. To get a taxi you can turn right out of the hotel then left at the end of the building site and go to the front of the Trianon Royal hotel. The highlight of the hotel for me was Le Cellier bar and restaurant on the 18th floor where you could get food till 11pm. It was a lovely place which I had mainly to myself although before the outbreak of the war with Iran it was packed every night. I was served by either Saifi or Thin and had nice conversations with both of them. The food was good too. Overall, I had a very nice stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back again.

The room upgrade I received was very pleasant. However, in most hotels that do not have a lounge to offer a diamond member, breakfast is often offered instead. Not here. Restaurants and bars often offer discounts for Diamond members. Not here.

The room has a bad smell like damp and molds. The apartment dining table is not sturdy and when i ask the housekeeping to change it. He said that it cannot be change and it will be change on my next stay. He also told me that the engineering will come to fix the problem but no one arrived. The balcony is dusty and full of birds droppings. And the apartment sofa bed lock is not working causing me to fall and had a back pain and bruises. Thats why we stay for another night cause im having a hardtime to walk.. overall the hotel is nice the receptionist is professional and the birthday cake is a surprise..

I stayed for one night in a privilege room. I highly recommend the hotel. Extremely friendly staff, very neat and clean room, the breakfast buffet was simple and delicious. Overall, it was a great experience. I would definitely book again when I visit Abu Dhabi next time !!
