We had a pleasant experience at Mercure Abu Dhabi downtown, the hotel was clean and the rooms were very spacious and the decor throughout the hotel was well thought out and aesthetically pleasing. The staff were very helpful and the check in and check out processes were easy. There were however a couple of issues we experienced. Firstly, there was a lot of construction in the immediate area so the taxi from the airport could not drop us of in front of the hotel but on the next street down and we had to then struggle with our luggage to get it to the front door of the hotel. Secondly, the entertainment in the room was very limited as there was no Netflix app or other app downloaded on the TV only YouTube and very few limited satellite channels. There was an option on the TV to screen share from the phone but we were told it only worked with Android devices and both me and my husband had iPhones so the IT team said we couldn't connect the TV. It was a shame as it meant we did not want to spend time in the hotel as there was nothing to do and had to end up leaving our room early and coming back late to make the most of our stay.
