We had high expectations for our stay, especially as residents of Abu Dhabi who had been looking forward to visiting for a long time. Unfortunately, the experience did not reflect a five-star standard. The food quality was disappointing. A smaller selection would have been acceptable, but we expected much higher quality. The wave pool was closed without prior notice, and most restaurants were unavailable, which was not clearly communicated. Overall, the experience felt very limited and did not meet the expectations associated with a luxury hotel.The booking process itself was smooth, however, important details were not communicated clearly in advance. While we were informed that most restaurants would be closed, it was not explained that the remaining restaurant was not included in the all-inclusive package for shorter stays (less than three nights). We also asked if there was anything else we should be aware of and were told there was not. Additionally, we were not informed that key facilities such as the wave pool would be closed. This lack of transparency had a significant impact on our overall experience.

We booked a couple of nights for the family as a change of scenery/staycation and I have booked this over the phone directly with Rixos. We were very pleased by the staff and how friendly and accommodating they were across the hotel and facilities. However what was disappointing was the limited options and availability. We had not been informed while booking that only the main buffet would be available, with one option of ala carte being the Italian restaurant. In addition, the kids swimming area was limited to the slides but the wave pool was not functional. Had this been all communities in advance, we may have booked elsewhere considering the high nightly rate at Rixos.

I booked a staycation to celebrate my birthday and as I was working remotely wanted to be somewhere nice. Out of 3 options I chose rixos having stayed at other rixos hotels and seeing the ultra inclusive option as appealing. However, the ultra was not apparent. I went to work from the lobby floor, no drinks or snacks on offer. Best we could get was an ice cream at the kids club or a mocktail at the beach bar. I would expect light snacks available. Many areas were closed such as the wellness bar, all but one restaurant was open. This was a shame because we then had the same meals for 5 days! The turqouise was ok, but lacked options and the breakfast was lack lustre. one of the luxuries of staying in a resort is to have a top class breakfast, not cold poached eggs doused in vinegar! An egg station would have been great and is usually an option at most top hotels we have been to.I was expecting top tier as advertised as a luxury brand. At lunch a tiny fragmant of glass was found in a mouthful of salad which when reported to staff they dealt with immedietly and were very kind and apologetic. But this isnt what I would expect from a top hotel. They offered me any special request but I didnt really want any food. Something like a room upgrade would have gone down a treat, but we were given a tray of fruits and deserts sent to our room, which to be honest we didnt really want. Aside from the beautiful aesthetics and excellent staff everything else was underwhelming. The Spa experience was disappointing, I wasnt even allowed a robe so I had to traipse back dripping wet to my room. External guests were treated better. A drink in the spa would have been nice. Everything was very instagrammable but I was there to experience a luxury reset from the real world. I felt like I could have gone to a much cheaper establishment on Saadiyat and had the same experience. The room also smelled of damp most of our visit. Some of the corridors also had a smell. As always rixos toiletries were really nice the signature products are my favourite but would have been nice to have a bar of soap in the bathroom. The complimentary drinks were plentiful and good but the snacks were the same each day, some variety would have been nice. The tennis courts were great, the beach was immaculate and enjoyable. But overally I was left feeling underwhelmed.I feel that this is a fair reflection of our visit. I appreciate that there were reduced services due to the regional situation however for the price paid I feel like I didnt get value for money.

It’s not my first stay with Rixos, but Rixos Saadiyat Island Resort was truly exceptional. The service was both very friendly and highly professional, the cleanliness was impeccable, and the quality of the food and beverages was outstanding. My only concern is that, during this stay, there were no activities available and most of the restaurants were closed. This should have been clearly communicated to guests prior to booking.
