The people at reception were clueless as to how to manage check-in redemption. Guest service was sub standard for a Sofitel hotel. Surely not visiting again.

I contacted the hotel 2 nights before our trip and asked if they might allow an early check in to my family because they will arrive 9 am in the morning, they said we will discuss that when they arrive so i immediately booked an extra night to make sure they let them enter the rooms. I had my flight at night but my family arrived earlier in the morning while the reservation was under my name. So i went to booking.com and changed it to my name and immediately changed and confirmed by email. This hotel refused to make my family enter their rooms and i lost >1000 Saudi riyals for nothing, they said we didn’t receive any change in the name even though i showed them the email i received from booking .com and all good from my side they still refused to contact booking from their side and said we don’t know how to reach them!!! clearly they wanted some off the table money to get my family to their rooms . so irresponsible and greedy and very unexpected from A. good reputation chain worldwide. I hope the mother company take some actions because thats terrifying

Unfortunately, there was nothing we could do to assist your family during their check-in as according to the hotel’s rule and the Egyptian law, we can not check-in guests in rooms booked under another guests names. Sofitel Downtown Cairo impressed us with its excellent location, breathtaking views of the Nile, and high standard of service. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, and the staff was professional and attentive. The breakfast offered a wide variety of high-quality options, and the overall atmosphere felt calm and refined. We truly enjoyed our stay and would gladly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Accor properties in Cairo and Luxor during our holiday in Egypt and Türkiye. In Cairo, we stayed at the Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile. We booked the Opera Suite. The room was spacious and well maintained. The added powder room and small kitchenette were a plus point. The bathroom was a bit small but I am nitpicking. The hotel has views of the Nile and since it is right on the main road, the area is quite lively (read noisy at night but not unbearably). We had breakfast and evening drinks in the lounge. The quality and variety of the food and beverages were very good. I’d like to highlight the excellent service provided by every single member of the Lounge staff. They were friendly, efficient and welcoming.
