I stayed at Novotel El Borg Hotel for nearly 6 nights, and unfortunately, I experienced several issues with housekeeping and privacy. The cleaning trolley remained in front of my room throughout the day, 24/7. Despite complaining about it, the issue was never resolved. The housekeeping staff frequently stood outside the rooms, chatting throughout the day, which compromised the privacy and comfort of guests. When I requested room cleaning, there was no proper response. It was evident that the hotel was understaffed, and the reception staff hardly seemed to care about addressing guest concerns. Furthermore, while I was inside Room 3013, a person from outside was standing outside my window and cleaning the glass, which was a serious violation of my privacy. Overall, the hotel appears to lack proper management, supervision, and control over its housekeeping operations. Despite being a well-known hotel, the level of service and guest privacy I experienced was extremely disappointing.

Upon arrival, we were upgraded from a city view room to a Nile view room. A nice and tasty treat was waiting for us in the room. The rooms were spacious and clean. Everything we needed was there. It was just a pity that the minibar in one of our rooms didn’t cool enough. The rooftop restaurant had a good selection of delicious dishes. There was something for everyone. Breakfast offered a very extensive selection of local and international dishes. Our 96-year-old father was pampered by the staff. The staff at the front desk, bar, restaurants, and housekeeping were friendly and helpful. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the city, the surrounding region and the pyramids.

I arrived at the hotel at about 11am and ate a burger lunch at about 12 noon. I ate nothing else (and only drank bottled water) until 7.30pm when I ate a seafood pizza and a salad at the hotel. My son ate chicken. I had two colas and two bottles of water again supplied by the hotel. At 2am I experienced diarrhoea which had me awake every hour after that. I had to fly to London in the morning (12th September) which was a very unpleasant experience. Now, on Sunday morning (13th), I still have the same problem and am concerned about returning to work tomorrow, if that’s symptoms continue.
