The hotel is altogether fine: well located, fine room, hot water working well, wifi is somewhat ok (although since it is unsecured branching on to the company website is impossible), the view from the top floor restaurant is breathtaking, food is good, breakfast is excellent, staff is very helpful… but but but on my to Cairo between two connecting flights, I got a message that my reservation has been cancelled. I’m arriving at midnight, my travel companions are staying there, in the meantime prices in other venues have shot up to astronomical levels, a great way to start my stay in Cairo! Since I have no other option, I have myself dropped at the hotel (part of a chain of which I am a member and through which site I had made my reservation) and start to fight for a room. I am told my reservation because it was not “guaranteed” (I repeat I made the reservation on their site). Ultimately, after waiting another hour, a room was found and I could enjoy a (brief) night. This reservation policy is brutal and should be changed asap.
