Great stay in a lovely room. The skill, patience and thoughtfulness of reception staff during a particularly busy check-in was exceptional. He handled the crowds and still managed to talk to my children about their plans, the Welsh language and various other things, as I said, exceptional.

We booked this hotel as it advertised that the restaurant was open on Sunday evening. I think (hope) it will probably be a lovely hotel in the future but it’s really not great at the moment. Guessing as it’s new so perhaps teething trouble? We were checked in but not welcomed as usual. Complimentary drinks not offered. I asked for the menu to read with our pre dinner drinks and was given it but no one said that menu was not available on Sunday. We were told only 2 starters available then just pizzas. The croquettes were tiny little balls. The pizza was not hot and very stodgy. We left most of it. Glancing around at other tables everyone else didn’t look happy either. No one asked if we’d enjoyed our meal probably as it was obvious we hadn’t. Bar staff were friendly and wines were very reasonable. Room was lovely, comfortable and good temperature. Breakfast was awful. Advertised as from 7 but when we came in on time they were still mopping the floors and even vacuumed around our feet as we ate. Tables weren’t laid - they started laying the places as we finished. The ‘hot’ food was cold and congealed despite us being there as they opened. The hot plates had not been switched on. We weren’t asked at checkout if we had enjoyed our stay. Reception staff were polite but not friendly.

Location is great to move around. There is a trekking and bike route nearby that allows to make a nice walk to Zumaia. Facilities are new and rooms are comfortable. Staff is very nice and breakfast and bar service great.
