Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. The room may be small, but it’s very clean, the hotel location is excellent, and the service is warm and friendly. I also loved that the hair dryer was a Dyson — such a nice touch. The only issue I noticed was that there were quite a lot of small fibers or lint in the room, possibly coming from the towels or the bedding. When I left my phone on the desk overnight, the screen was covered with lint the next morning.

Functional hotel. Best part is the fact that it is new and the decor is nice. Service was hit and miss. I had 2 seperate stays here. First time in a room with balcony. These rooms cost the most but happens to be located right beside noisy construction that can be heard with the doors shut. Was told that my ALL gold benefits don’t apply for F&B yet it is part of ALL. There is no clear notification of either of these two points. I’m glad I didn’t use my stay plus nights here! Before I booked the second night in the smaller but quieter room I asked reception staff if they could price match the rate I found on third party website. Other Accor hotels like Sofitel SG do this. Was told no and to book via third party if it’s cheaper- bit unusual.This time around I didn’t get my welcome drink (the first time I did even though booked via same platform) and was told that it was a “once off benefit”. Seems a bit thrifty and like staff were making up rules as they go. I know it’s a new hotel, some staff were great, others reminded me I was staying at a “business hotel” rather than a luxury Accor hotel. Don’t think I’d be back for the price point advertised, esp when I can stay at somewhere like Mondrian or even Sofitel SG for cheaper and where my ALL gold F&B benefits are honoured.

Considering that this hotel is new and will have to establish itself, we were satisfied with the room and the very kind and helpful personnel. We are really hopeful the place will be successful. It is however important to consider the setup of the breakfast. Offering a menu based on the average prices in a local coffeeshop is fine, but in comparison with other Mamashelter concepts (e.g. Toulouse) it is worth considering to offer a breakfast buffet. also, from the street is not clear enough that Mamashelter offers lunch/dinner. How are potential customers supposed to know. Especially because on the other side of the street there plenty of places to go for a meal. In short, the managing of the hotel has to assess the local situation and think about a plan to attract customers. The location is great with the Somerset metro station around the corner!

My elderly mother and I had a pleasant experience at Mama Shelter. We enjoyed the breakfast and appreciated the excellent customer service at the restaurant. Additionally, we were delighted by the variety of TV channels available, including Cantonese channel,and the Dyson hairdryer provided. It would be ideal if you could have some wheelchairs available for guests who may need them, particularly elderly guests.
