We stayed 2 nights at Mama Shelter and it was delightful. They rooms are very comfortable and even though we were at street level there wasn't much noise heard in the room. The pool area was beautiful with a very chilled vibe. It is located close to port and old town - easily walkable to both. The staff at reception and pool were exceptional. Looking forward to returning here some day soon hopefully

The staff were all excellent, friendly and helpful. However, the experience was one of style over substance, with some fundamental deficiencies. The air conditioning in Room 207 was non-existent. When raised with staff they explained that the AC would not function either below 22 degrees or if any window had been opened. They reset the system and no window was ever open, but the system remained non-responsive and the temperature was unacceptable and unbearable for the location at this time of year. This is a basic need of any 4 star hotel in the South of France. In addition, despite the audio/visual system offering a filter menu to select and choose English speaking channels, when they were selected it transpired that the system was unable to screen them. If an option does not exist, do not present it as an option.

Our hotel is proud to be part of the Green Key (Clef Verte) eco-label, whose environmental standards include responsible management of energy consumption and air conditioning temperatures. Regarding the English-language channels, we would also like to reassure you that your feedback was immediately passed on to our technical department when they attended your room. They are currently working on this issue to ensure that the channels displayed in the system correspond correctly to those that are actually available. We sincerely appreciate you bringing this to our attention, as it allows us to improve our services and avoid similar inconveniences for future guests. We nevertheless sincerely hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Mama Nice, so that we can show you the full extent of our team's dedication and commitment to providing our guests with the experience they deserve. An overall great experience! The staff helped us out on numerous occasions and were very friendly. The only thing is the room was a bit warm, during the hot weather - better AC would be appreciated!

I really enjoyed my stay here. It was very well situated close to the old town in the port. The room was a decent size with very comfortable bed. Enjoyed the Decor as well. The Reception staff were incredibly helpful and gave us good recommendations for beaches and other things to do.

The location of the hotel was really good and easy to get around. Check in was smooth however we experienced a few issues with our stay. In advance we were told that the world cup final would be shown and it would be first come first served however there was only one waiter who was running around trying to help people and the bar closed before the end of the game too. The first morning when we tried to shower the drains were so badly blocked that the bathroom flooded and this leaked into the bedroom. We called reception and they said they would send someone and after a while when noone came we had to call again, my partner had to go to reception to ask as well and was just told immediaately that there were no other rooms to move to (we didn't ask that, we asked for it to be fixed so we could shower before heading out for activities we had booked). Someone eventually came and we had to use google translate and then were told we would have to wait even longer. Someone from reception came and fixed it and we were brought more towels but even when returning later that day the carpet was still wet from the flooding. Then the next day we were not given bath towels for the shower at all - they were taken and not replaced. When we called for more none came and we had to call again only for beach towels for the pool to be brought and when we asked for proper towels were told no. Then we called for an iron and again after a long wait we had to call again only to be told we would have to go to reception to get this and carry it up ourselves. We also realised that one of the housekeepers took our spare room key and we did not feel our room was safe after this so had to ask for both keys to be replaced. On the final day after check out we went upstairs to grab a coffee and we waited for more than 20 minutes only to be told our milk choice was not available - clearly they forgot our order because this was only after we questioned where our order was. The hotel is lovely but there were just a lot of issues with no real reasons given or acknowledgement of these.

We had a lovely four night stay at Mama Shelter. Good, quiet location with easy access to all parts of Niece. Staff are welcoming and the rooms were very comfortable with good sound proofing. We enjoyed the rooftop pool, very chilled with good tunes to relax to but do get there early as it gets busy quickly. We went to the rooftop bar each night for a couple of drinks before bed, nice vibe and staff very accommodating. Only minor negative was no coffee or tea in room but this would not put me off staying there again. Overall would recommend if you are looking for something a bit different to typical chain hotels.

I went to my room at 11pm. It was very hot but I thought this was because the key needed to be in the slot to make the AC and lights work. I showered and went to sleep. I woke at 4am nauseous, dizzy, and very very thirsty. I checked the temperature and it was 28 degrees (but very humid and felt hotter). I called the front desk and told them it was too hot, this was dangerous. They said all they could do was bring a fan which I said was not enough. They reset the AC. After maybe 15-20 minutes I felt worse, like I might fall over, so I went to the lobby, where it was cool. I repeated that it was dangerous for me to return to this room, that I was tired and needed to sleep. The front desk person again said there was nothing he could do (he did give me two bottles of water). I called other hotels looking for a room. After the first two were full, I asked the front desk person if he could help with the calling. He didn't, he told me to call the Novotel (which was full). Finally he found another room, at nearly 6am. I was only offered a 20% discount. After being put at risk for heat stroke! And at the very least I could have been warned to check the AC because, based on internet reviews, it seems this has happened before.

Bedroom did not provide enough storage for clothes we had to leave clothes in suitcases. No kettle or iron had to request it. Breakfast same every morning very average. A good distance from main area of Nice but near train station. Hotel policy on paying very confusing took money out my bank days before we were told coming out. Staff friendly . Pool had hardly any umbrellas I asked for more and was told no more so had to lie with full sun with 35 degree heat not acceptable did not return to pool arra after one very short stay at pool..

Regarding the storage in the room, we are sorry that you did not mention this during your stay. We would have been happy to provide additional hangers so that you could hang more of your clothes and make your stay more comfortable. Similarly, kettles and irons are available upon request and can be delivered to our guests' rooms at any time. Our team is always happy to assist whenever needed. We were surprised by your comment regarding the breakfast, as we offer a large and varied buffet with both hot and cold options, sweet and savoury choices, fresh fruit, cereals, cheeses, cold cuts, eggs and a wide selection of beverages. While staple items remain available every morning to meet our guests' expectations, we strive to provide a generous and diverse breakfast experience. Regarding the payment, our pre-authorisation procedure is explained during check-in. We temporarily authorise the total amount of the stay, along with a €50 per night security deposit to cover any potential extras. At check-out, guests are free to choose their preferred method of payment and any unused authorised amount is automatically released by the bank. Depending on the bank you use, the processing times may be extended by a few days but know that the release is done automatically on our side, as soon as you check-out. As for the pool area, we do have a limited number of umbrellas, although there are enough to cover the full length of the pool. Unfortunately, during busy periods, if they are already being used by other guests, we are unable to remove them. We are sorry that this affected your enjoyment of the pool. Thank you again for sharing your feedback with us, we value every guest's comments and use them to continually evaluate and improve our services.
