A convenient stay on the road to Belgium.

Very convenient hotel at the junction off the E17 road. The hotel is just inside the French border from Belgium.There is very little around the hotel so is very quiet. Food can be found in Tourcoing near the Auchan Hypermarket if arriving after 9pm. Hotel has a dinner service however this finishes at 9pm - so arrive early if you plan to eat here. Rooms were on the usual faultless Ibis standard you'd expect. Breakfast was OK but was in short supply as most of the guests had cleaned out most of the offering. It was replenished but slowly. I can recommend the freshly squeezed chilled orange juice which was superb. Pastries when they did get re-filled were still warm. Sat Navs may have this stored as a different hotel. It was previously the Altia Hotel which may still show on many sat nav systems.

Great stay in a comfortable room. Excellent staff. Very disappointed to learn, via an email sent to us an hour before check in, that the restaurant was not going to be open other than for breakfast. Various reasons given, from ‘technical’ to ‘staff sickness’. Is there no backup plan in case of staff sickness? We specifically chose this hotel because of the availability of an on site restaurant for dinner. Very basic breakfast offering. Much more limited than at other Ibis Styles hotels we have used in France. We love the fresh orange juice machine they have in Ibis Styles hotels, but it was not working for the majority of our stay. There seemed no urgency to get it fixed when we asked. This could easily have been a ten-out-of-ten score if it wasn’t for the issues I have described.
