The rooms did not appear as described. This hotel was more akin to a 3 star hotel and did not have the Grand Mercure experience I anticipated and have seen in other establishments, particularly for a "Grand" property. Ultimately I would never stay here again for this price and rating. I highly recommend the Nomaa only 10 minutes away. Check-In: The room I was given was not the room I reserved and it was characterized as an "upgrade." However, the room was dirty. The pillow and sheets had not been changed. I requested them to be changed while I was out on business. When I returned later that evening (2200hrs) they had still not been cleaned. They did not have housekeeping staff working at night (How is that possible?) and so they offered me another room. Fine. The next room was OK. Both rooms were awkwardly set up, (i.e. the bedside table was not near the bed, the outlets were not located adjacent to the bed). I was allegedly in a newly renovated room, however it lacked furniture and there was black mold on the ceiling of the bathroom. Probably due to a lack of ventilation. Elevators: There were only two elevators servicing more than 10 floors. They were constantly packed and guests waited 5-10 minutes for an elevator. Valet: Parking must be via valet and they charged 50 BRL/day, even though the front desk told me it was 30 BRL/day. They say you can call reception or use WhatsApp to request your car in advance, but multiple times I did just that and the vehicle was not ready. This could be a huge problem for people on business who need their car ready at a specific time, which eventually I was able to arrange by the 4th day of my stay. Otherwise, you are waiting 15-20 minutes for your car, in that case I'd just take a taxi. Security: Though a hotel key card is required to access each floor via the elevator, the stairwell doors were often wide open. This is a huge security issue and every day I was closing the doors to the stairwells that were left wide open. The food at the hotel was decent. The breakfast options were adequate, though very slow. The sushi restaurant was good.
