The room was advertised with a bathtub, but we received only a standard shower. The TV was not a Smart TV. Most importantly, a cleaning staff member entered our room at 8:49 AM while my husband and I were still asleep, before our 11 AM check-out

I can not enough thank the staff of the hotel. They always make me feel so welcome. Always greeted with pleasure. They truly go out of their way to make you feel at home. I stay on average 4 to 5 times a year at this location. Easy to get to hotel from Brussels airport and very easy to get to the city of Antwerp and only 2 min or less away from the highway towards, the Netherlands, Brugge, Gent or Brussels. Very convenient location.

I chose the Mercure solely because of its proximity to the Antwerp Expo where I was attending Stranger Con. First the positives: •⁠ ⁠The reception staff was incredibly nice and spoke English very well. •⁠ ⁠The hotel was a 10 to 15 minute walk away from the Antwerp Expo. Now to the bad parts: •⁠ ⁠The room was poorly maintained. The wardrobe was chipped in multiple places, the sink had a crack running through it and the faucet was very loose. •⁠ ⁠The room was unbearably hot and humid. If I had to guess it was 26°C with a humidity of 70%. It didn't have an AC, just a vent that blew air into the room, and it didn't have openable windows. •⁠ ⁠The worst part, however, was on my first night around 10/11 PM. I was laying in bed with just my boxers (due to the heat) listening to music when suddenly room service entered the room. I don't know if he knocked or not since I was wearing headphones. He kept asking me if I called for room service, to which I replied I didn't, expecting him to leave. He didn't. He kept asking about three more times if I needed anything until I escorted him out of the room and locked the door. I considered switching hotels twice but couldn't be bothered and tolerated my stay there. The next time I'm in Antwerp for a convention, I definitely won't be staying there.

The hotel was at the vicinities of where I was attending an event, so it was suitable for purpose. Yet, some small things made my 1 night stay pretty uncomfortable. There was no water bottles in the room, nor bottles to refill, although there was a water fountain in the lobby. There is no staircase connection between parking lot and the lobby. Only connection was a very tiny lift (only 1), which was a struggle for a claustrophobic person like me. The staff was ok, but we could have been me ter unstructured about how to get water, and how the hotel facilities work. Otherwise, bed was comfortable and my air conditioning functioned, but n like other people’s room complaining the same day.

The air conditioning was poorly functioning and couldn’t cool the room properly. I reported this issue twice during my stay. I was given a fan because the air conditioning wasn't working properly throughout the hotel. On a positive note, the receptionists were friendly, especially Vincent, who had only been there for two weeks. However, the coffee and tea in the room were never replenished. Also, as a loyalty member, I expected a welcome snack, which is standard at Mercure and higher-tier Accor brands. It’s a small, inexpensive gesture that greatly impacts guest satisfaction, so it's a shame this hotel doesn't offer it. Lastly, although the bathroom was clean, the room needed better vacuuming (there was debris under the desk).

A lot of noise during the day due to construction works. Temperature in the room was too high as airco did not work. Fridge was not working. Constant noise of machine/engine (?) during the night keeping me from sleeping. Door didn't close well, you had to push hard and which made a lot of noise. Slamming noise of other doors on the same floor making you awake in the early morning.
