The hotel is very well situated. The check in and check out were smooth and the service of the receptionists was good. Overall the hotel looks old and worn out, the room was not very clean (there were hairs on the floor and dirt around the bathroom sink, spots on the coach). The bed was creaky and made noises with every movement during the night.

Stayed in the executive room. Great location, comfortable bed and plenty of storage room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Suggestions for improvements: (1) when showering in the morning the water got extremely hot to the point of burning me and it was very difficult to get it cooler. This is a safety issue - particularly for children. (2) The air conditioning seemed to only stay on one temperature and we would have preferred it cooler. Overall a lovely stay - thank you.

We had a great stay at Novotel Mechelen. The location was perfect, near restaurants and a supermarket. The room was comfortable. The only complaint I have is WC lighting which is too dim.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Told us where we can go locally and were willing to help us buy tickets to visit somewhere the next day. We arrived later than expected and our room was ready for us. Breakfast was relaxed, with a great selection and plenty of everything.

We stayed for two nights to explore Mechelen mostly by foot. The location was good and convenient that parking is next to the hotel. When you step out of the hotel you are in the middle of town. Mechelen is a great city with, the canal tour was good and plenty of options to eat. Breakfast in the hotel was also decent. I would probably pick the same hotel if I went again.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The hotel was very well located to the town but a bit far to walk from the train station. The lobby was nice and welcoming. The room was a decent size, but the bathroom could have been cleaned and maintained better. The shower was moldy and some hair was left in the bathtub. The hallway carpets were so stained and overall the rooms are showing their age. But, for one night before flying out of Brussels airport it was a decent stop. The airport was about 30 min via taxi which was a bit on the high side but the driver was good.

The room had an unpleasant smell, like stagnant water. There were several unnecessary beds made up, while items such as water and chocolates were missing from the room. The breakfast selection also seems to be becoming more limited over time. I have been visiting this hotel for many years and unfortunately notice that the level of service is declining. In addition, it is now often no longer possible to book just one night, as a minimum stay of two nights is required. That is disappointing. The location remains excellent, and the service in the past was very good. It raises the question: why has this changed?
