The welcome was frosty, the room was fine, my evening meal, cod and chips, the cod was not cooked, and slimey.

Stayed for 2 days and no hot water and no heating.. reported 4 times and they informed they will get an electrician which they didn’t.. ask if there are any other rooms got a response we don’t change rooms and after insisting they said no rooms available .. I had a long journey and had to attend a conference.. so slept in the old bedroom and showered in the gym bathroom ..nice way to treat a business client ..

It is clear that our communication and follow-up failed in this instance, and we understand the inconvenience and discomfort this caused—particularly as you were attending an important conference and had just completed a long journey. Room was very cold and no way to adjust heating. Bathroom door locked itself and couldn't reopen it. Thankfully I was locked out rather than locked in it. No answer from reception or duty manager phone numbers. Eventually got answer from emergency phone in corridor. Lady from reception came with screwdriver and sorted it. She was great but had to leave reception unmanned. Clearly understaffed, with a busy work do going on downstairs.

We are very sorry to hear that your room was cold and that you were unable to adjust the heating. This certainly should not have been the case, and we understand how unacceptable it is to be left without adequate temperature control. We are also deeply concerned about the bathroom door incident. A door locking itself is a serious safety issue, and although we are relieved that you were locked out rather than inside, this should never have occurred. The Reception and the Duty Manager are contactable via the numbers provided on your welcome letter inside the bedrooms. While we are pleased to hear that our colleague was able to reach you via the emergency phone and resolve the problem promptly, we acknowledge the broader issue you raised: our team was understaffed during a busy event, resulting in reception being left unmanned while she assisted you. This is not the level of service or oversight we aim to provide. Please be assured that we are reviewing our staffing levels, emergency response procedures, and room maintenance checks to ensure situations like this do not happen again. We were checked in quickly and had all the amenities explained to us. Our room was clean and comfortable. All of the team working at Mercure Telford Centre were friendly and helpful.

We stayed here for 2 nights, conveniently located and nice to have the health club on site. Nice breakfast, although expensive, our email told us it’d be £10 per parson but it ended up being £15.95 which we thought was a bit steep for what they had on offer. Receptionist would not drop the price to £10 even after showing her the email.
