I was very impressed with my three-day stay at the Manto Hotel Lima and would highly recommend it to others (with a couple caveats, please read below.) The hotel was recently remodeled from head-to-toe and so the pictures from other travelers are mostly from before the renovations so please keep that in mind. The pictures on its own website are current and accurate. The hotel is very nicely decorated, looks stylish without being too extreme, and very comfortable and pleasant. Whoever was the designer for this remodeling did a great job. The prices (at least for when I stayed) are excellent and I would recommend staying in the highest category room--which is a bit larger I think than the others and worth the minimal difference in price. The room itself was spotlessly clean (so important!) with GREAT quality towels (better than the Ritz Carlton in Chile that I had stayed at immediately prior to coming to Lima.) The bed was also quite comfortable as well. The room air conditioning worked well and there's a couple windows that open if you want to get some fresh air. Thankfully the hotel was quiet and I didn't hear any noise from other guests. The only "downside" to the room--and this is important--is that the bathroom area is NOT private--so if you're taking a shower, etc, you had better be comfortable with whoever you're staying with or otherwise ask them to leave the room until you're done. Thankfully I stayed alone but if I had been with someone that might have been very awkward since the bathroom isn't in it's own separate room area like most hotels. Also, the condensation/steam from the shower fills up the whole room so keep the windows open or air conditioning on to keep that under control. Lastly, the "environmentally friendly" communal toiletries are made in China (yuck!) and I would highly recommend the hotel find a better quality brand--such as L'Occitane if it really wants to pick a quality brand instead of a Chinese brand that just uses French words but is made in China. Oh--and they only provided one bottle of courtesy water for the three day stay--it was never replaced. That was kind of cheap and the hotel should make sure they have it replaced every day if it's used--it wouldn't cost them very much and would help improve their image as a premium level hotel. (Just like changing out the Chinese-manufactured toiletries.) The restaurant and bar was great as well--a decent menu and great cocktails. Bartender Andres is a real gem--what a wonderful team member! (Actually, ALL of the restaurant staff were so friendly.) Martin at the front desk was also very pleasant as well and always greeted me upon entering or leaving. I stayed here in part because it's listed as an Expedia/Orbitz VIP Access hotel and they did a decent job recognizing that fact--therefore I'd be very happy to return here and look forward to doing so next time I visit Lima!

Unfortunately, our stay here was very brief. We only had one night in Lima before flying home to the U.S. I really wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is beautiful and the people working there were very kind. They thought of little things that could make our one night more special, and even made us a lovely cup of coffee at 4:00 AM prior to our car service picking us up. I would definitely go back here again.
