This is not our first stay at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea — we have been guests here several times and have always enjoyed it. That is exactly why this visit was so disappointing. It was, without exaggeration, the worst experience we have had at this hotel. Food quality. The food was poor and had almost no taste. Our children tried dinner and did not like it; the next morning they took one look at the breakfast and refused to eat altogether. That has never happened on any previous stay here. I raised the food quality with the manager during dinner, and the team did try to help — I appreciate that — but by then it was too late, and my children would not try again. This is the first time we have encountered food of this standard at this property, and for a resort at this level, and at these rates, it was the single biggest letdown of the stay. No response to a guest request for assistance. My wife was tired and requested transport from the pool area back to the main hotel building. She waited a long time and called several times. No one came, and no one followed up. In the end she had to walk back on her own. A guest asking for help getting back to their room should not be left waiting and then ignored — particularly in Dead Sea heat. Refused entry to collect my own family. I had to return to Amman for an urgent meeting and came back the next day to collect my family and have lunch at the hotel. Security refused to let me in. I explained that my family were staying at the resort and that we intended to have lunch there. I was left waiting in direct sun for 10–15 minutes until my wife went down to reception in person to add my name. I gave up and went to the Marriott instead, where I was allowed in within two minutes after a single phone call. The location and setting are still excellent, and our previous stays were genuinely good — which is why this drop in food quality and service was so noticeable. We had already been planning another booking for next month. After this experience, we will not be returning, and we will be looking at other properties on the Dead Sea instead. We hope management reviews the F&B standard, the response process for in-resort transport requests, and the gate procedure for guests' own family members — so that returning guests are not put through the same experience.
