An amazing welcome from the receptionist, the room was a good size with very comfortable beds. The room needed a little TLC. Food was good and a good price. Enjoyed the spar facilities but again could do with a little TLC. value for money and I would return.

Came for family funeral - Nicky on reception was brilliant, shuffling and reorganising rooms with upgrades to accommodate us with sensitivity and care for our situation - she was awesome.

Overall I was fairly satisfied with my stay. There were lots of positives - easy check in, clean room with amenities, range of available spaces for booking food, friendly staff, excellent food and pleasant surroundings. Unfortunately, a few things detracted from the overall experience, mainly spa based. Firstly, the ‘one size fits all’ robes definitely do not. It was highly embarrassing to not have a robe that fit properly or did up. I have been to spas where they offer a range of sizes, which is a much better system and causes less discomfort. Secondly, my partner was told that there weren’t any locker keys available for the men’s changing rooms so he had to leave his door unlocked. Also, the overflow grate on the jacuzzi was all broken and floating around inside the tub. This made entering and exiting the jacuzzi quite precarious. I didn’t expect to see as many children in a spa as there were either. Finally, it would have been nice to have an option for the massage - relaxing, harder pressure etc as we both felt that it was quite painful and not at all relaxing.

No towels in room when we arrived.. great ground floor location BUT no lift going down to ground floor and lots of stairs... Little courtyard full of leaves which where there all the time staying also cigarette butts on floor never swept and as we are non smokers not good no pods for coffee evidently they never had any..menu could have had more variety especially staying a few days

1. We were misled over the price of the rooms, and an extra £400+ was requested when we arrived - After standing our ground for 24 hours this extra fee was very begrudgingly removed 2. The Junior King Suite which we paid extra for was no better than the Privelege room. 3. The Junior King Suite was tired and needed a refresh. Dirty grout, underside of sink very dirty 4. The Nepresso coffee machine had clearly not been moved for sometime - staining and coffee residue underneath which we discovered as the water tank leaked badly. 5. the corridor on the way to the suite smelt damp and musty. 6. We had specified 2 rooms next to each other as our daughter has physical and mental disabilities and needs supervision, but were allocated rooms at opposite ends of the hotel. As it happened our daughter was not well enough to come, but if she had we would not have been able to manage with this arrangement. 7. We arrived for breakfast at 9.45am. several breakfast items had run out, and at 5 minutes before 10 the staff closed down the breakfast area as they had a wedding to prepare for. We were unable to get a full breakfast and repeatedly had to ask for eggs, hash browns and coffee as the equipment had been emptied and turned off. The manager was clearly frustrated with us. 8. One of the dressing gowns had an unpleasant brown stain on it. We placed it in the bath for changing after the first night, but it was never replaced. Overall, a disappointing stay from check in to departure. I appreciate that we were eventually given the pricing that we had expected but this is not the type of service and accommodation that we expect from Mercure, and it put a tarnish on a long awaited stay for our eldest son's wedding.

Booked an overnight stay and spa break for myself and my daughter, chose the location to be close to Meadowhall for shopping which worked well. The staff were so friendly , helpful and accommodating, with the spa team squeezing in a treatment when I'd mixed up the dates! We enjoyed a room upgrade, delicious food and a relaxing morning in the pool, sauna and steam room. Top tip... don't ignore the flooding sign in the car park if rain is due, you could end up driving home with very wet feet!!

It was great, the room was spacious and they topped up water every day. Kids enjoyed the stay, and the pool. The bathroom could do with a refurb though as kids found it very difficult. People were amazing, especially Lisa.

From start to finish nothing went as planned. No wine in the room or flowers, massage cancelled and had to wait for another one, food took ages as short staffed (server was lovely though,) and the bedroom needed updating and phone was filthy. I did straight away request the wine and was given a bottle from the bar which was a bad wine anyways. I ended up leaving in the night as there was noise and I was so unrelaxed by that point. I spent well over £200 on a disappointment. I will say the view was lovely from the spa area but the Jacuzzi felt unsafe to get into, my friend held my hand to get into it as I have a disability. I would not recommend or go again.

Hotel and grounds pleasant. The experience of a relaxing overnight break very much ruined by extremely loud wedding, with our room directly above the party with loud music until late. If we had been notified beforehand we would have arranged a different date.

A very nice and very reasonably priced hotel in a great location for the student end of Sheffield. Some of the fixtures and fittings are a bit tired and dated although not too aggregiously for such an old building. All of the staff I dealt with were extremely pleasant and friendly but on the whole fairly inexperienced for a hotel that obviously aspires to be of high quality.

The staff were great however we did have frustrations. In total we had four rooms. Our privilege room had a dirty bathroom door and a broken toilet roll holder. We had a family booking that we'd understood would be connecting rooms when we booked but apparently these are no longer offered, even though they are on the website. These issues were raised with the manager at the time and we were offered another room, however the level of maintenance didn't match my expectations of the brand.

Upgrade to a junior suite which was a lovely surprise.A lovely view of the lake and our own outdoor seating.Very spacious, lovely comfortable bed, very clean and accommodating.

Arrived late after our wedding (carrying gifts and heavy items ) to be told there was no direct lift to our room and had to go down multiple sets of stairs with our heavy luggage in our formal wear. Room was filthy, rundown and frankly disgusting. We woke up and immediately left. I feel very sad for our wedding guests that stayed here
