Excellent hotel, rooms are clean, furniture is new. Rooms are equipped with ironing board and iron, safe, stable internet and large TV. It would be good if they enabled YouTube and Chromecast on TVs, which are on the remote and in the menu but the TV is not connected to the internet or there is some other problem that prevents them from working. Also, I think the price of breakfast at 30€ is too high because you can have breakfast near the hotel for significantly less money.

The cleaning lady entered the room twice, while I was inside (once at 6 pm and once at 9 am). The room was not cleaned even though the cleaning notice was there

The room and location of Novotel Hamburg are really great, but honestly the breakfast experience alone ruined our entire vacation mood.. One staff member, Nikola, at the breakfast restaurant was rude to us every single day of our stay. No smile, no greeting, nothing. Every time we needed something it felt like we were bothering him. We felt like we were begging to eat there rather than being welcomed as paying guests. One morning we arrived at breakfast as a group of 4, but only 2 of us came down first while the other 2 were still on their way from the room. Since there was no free 4-person table at the time, we pushed two small tables together ourselves to accommodate our group. When a proper 4-person table became free shortly after, we moved to it so we could also charge our phones — leaving our original two tables completely clean and untouched, exactly as we found them. No mess, no disruption. Instead of walking over to speak to us properly, Nikola stood in the middle of the restaurant and called out in a flat, cold tone that we were not allowed to move. He kept insisting there were more families coming, as if we had done something wrong by simply moving to a more suitable table. He never once walked over to explain himself calmly or politely. It was humiliating in front of other guests, and we genuinely could not understand what the problem was. On our last morning, our used plates sat on the table untouched while he walked right past us — through the narrow gap between tables — and turned his back to us to clear the table right next to ours instead. He could not have made it more obvious that we were being ignored. We were rushing to check out and had no time to say anything, but it left a bitter final impression. Breakfast is supposed to be one of the highlights of a hotel stay. For us, it was something we dreaded every single morning. What we are paying extra for? What makes this even more disappointing is that this was our first time back at Novotel in many years. The last time we stayed at a Novotel was around 10 years ago in France, and we experienced the exact similar thing — poor service. We gave the brand another chance hoping things had changed. Clearly they have not. This has only confirmed that poor service seems to be a pattern with Novotel, and we will not be returning.

Very busy at check-in, staff under pressure. Were happier on check-out as very few people around.
