We came to Nikki Nine's bar yesterday evening around 22:30, unfortunately because there were no seats, we decided to go upstairs to the martini bar and have a couple of cocktails. The greeting was strange to say the least, a large number of waiters standing and doing everything but not hurry to meet the guests, and shared the pretence that they were busy with a very important business, from wiping glasses to looking out the window... after waiting for 5 minutes the manager (a young blondy with curls) came to us, but only after I called her. Coming up to us, she did not pay attention to me, and immediately began to communicate with my companion (she is a little older than me). Such behavior is honestly very strange for this kind of institution. The manager with a haughty face said that there are no free tables, although there were 3 free tables next to us. After my question, why can not sit there, we were told that the kitchen is already closed, and they do not sit at the tables. But she said she would find a table for us and we could wait at the bar where there was only one free chair. I took a glass of wine for my friend and after 10 minutes of waiting no one came to us, we left the unfinished glass and decided to leave. Taking our things from the checkroom was not the easiest task either. The feeling that the staff was recruited incomprehensibly where, as the girls-waitresses were able to fulfill the request to give us our things, only after a few minutes of complete incomprehension of what they want from them (although if I did not even speak German and English, and told them in Chinese that I want to take our things and holding out at this point number from the hangers, it seems logical what you are asked). In general, we encountered the wildest disrespect and disregard from the service staff, and I will think very hard whether to come again. I have been traveling to hotels of this chain for many years with my family, and I have never met anything like this. Although I understand that it may be because of my age (24 years old), but good service in such level of establishments should be provided regardless of age & look & sex, otherwise it all looks very strange. I hope this situation will be sorted out, because such disrespect on the part of some employees spoils the image of this hotel.

Restaurants in the hotel were short staffed. Waited 30 minutes to get the waiter to take our order after I complained.

I have known this hotel for well over 40 years: when I still lived in Hamburg it was the place where we came together as a family to celebrate. Now that I no longer live in Hamburg, it is my home away from home when I return to Hamburg. I just love this place - mostly thanks to an amazing team! I simply cannot mention them all, but a big thank you to Mr. Peters, Mrs Redeker, Mrs Oehne and Mr. Eckmann for making me feel like home.
