Advertised as pet friendly even rang and express my situation, moving from interstate with 2 elderly dogs awaiting settlement on property. Attended reception to find booking taken without details even though I had confirmation email, staff felt I should have realised booking made by 3rd party provider although rang hotel direct?? Requested concierge help with bags ended up using Woolies trolley myself with 2 dogs in tow. Accommodation very comfortable however customer service is definitely a thing of the past, if it can’t be found on an app forget it. Bright note on departure a lovely fellow who had been a long term employee assisted me. Many thanks

I was very disappointed in our whole two days stay the room was in not a pleasant cleaning environment to stay in. The bathroom was disappointing and disgusting mould around the basins and taps also in toilet bowl was stained in side the toilet bowl Also bath tub had black brown marks around the bath. I could even give my 9month old baby a bath. hair in the under sink storage. One of the bed sheets looks like it had a red lipstick stain on bedding top. Also no rubbish bags in bins we had to go purchase and bins smelt me and my sister had gone to Woolworths to get cleaning products after checking and seeing the dirtiness of the room, the pool always looked murky and didn’t look nice to swim in. The pool area did not look inviting at all. Wasn’t happy at all with the room etc also wine glass still had lip stick stain on glass

• Small roads, one-way streets and tram lines meant poor access to the hotel. While this cannot be changed, there should be better and more detailed directions provided either with the booking email, and/or by the person at the reception desk. We had to perform 2 U turns in a rental car in packed streets with roaming pedestrians as well as cars, in a foreign state, putting us at risk of unwittingly breaking local road laws. • Front desk staff seemed to have ambiguous answers about various questions we asked; they need to increase their knowledge when asked common questions • Better advice pertaining to where to park and how to get in, as there are several access points in the basement carpark and it is difficult to find the 1 Novotel entry elevator/stairs • We asked for the balcony door to be locked permanently prior to booking and were assured that this would be done. This is due to us having an autistic child who is always trying to climb everything. The first night, we were sent a person from maintenance, but he seemed to barely understand English, and he thought we were saying the balcony door latch doesn’t lock. He proceeded to say “it lock” over and over, before leaving and never returning. Thankfully, our son did not escape on that first night as we blocked it with furniture and luggage. We also had to ask several times on the 2nd day for someone to lock the balcony door and kept being told it would be done. It was finally arranged that afternoon. • The pool seems old, with cracked tiles everywhere, peeling paint around it and limited seating. There were zero umbrellas for guests, and it was extremely hot at that time of the year, only umbrellas for the outdoor bar/food service they set up near the pool. On the positive: • The location was great, central to Surfer’s Paradise • The breakfast buffet was very good, with a great range of freshly prepared foods with some slight variations each day. Enough for everyone. 10/10 • The staff at the breakfast buffet were absolutely first class, service with great smiles and an eagerness to please. They all deserve any credit and compliments that come their way. Massive well done!

At the start it was not the best as I had asked for an early check in and was told on the morning of my arrival that this would be fine (i asked for 1300 check in) as I am a Gold Member, I thought that this was a fair request, When I arrived I was told that my room would not be ready until 1400 , I asked did they have my request and that said that they did just haven't be able to complete the request, NOT HAPPY. I was told that they would ring me so I am waiting in the bar area, At 1415 I went to the booking in counter and asked about my room and was told that it had be ready for about 15 Mins , I ask what about the phone call to let me know and was told didn't know that they were meant to ring . Not a good way to treat a GOLD member, I then asked if I could speak with the Manager the next day, (still waiting for this to happen 6 day later). Because of what happen I missed the starting of a Meeting that I was meant to be at.
