Beautifully kept hotel. Such friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Tasty breakfast. Expensive, but I understand why in Cambridge. Who ever designed / signed off this on those en-suite doors desires a good talking to though. Very much design over function. But then, if you don’t mind a see through en-suite door (it’s mirrored, but inside is visible when the light is on), and if you don’t mind that it’s not actually door as such, so no real bathroom privacy, you’ll be grand 🤗

I came to a conference at the Cambridge North Novotel and after the trip from London, I was keen to get to my room. It took no more than 5 minutes to get from the platform to the lobby. The surroundings and the hotel were clean and well kept. I had a good night’s sleep after a warm shower. My window opened on to the station platform there was hardly any noise. I went for a pleasant walk during my free time and the surroundings were pleasant. Highly recommended

Comfortable beds and lovely room- it was my husbands birthday and I didn’t get a chance to get there early to decorate the room, however the staff went beyond my expectations and decorated with balloons and even gave a card! It was very touching and totally unexpected- it really made my husbands day and the children had loads of fun with the balloons- thank you so much for this extra special touch - I really appreciate it x

Excellent conference facilities for a group I organised. But the room was not up to the usual Novotel standards. Nice size and nice bed but the bathroom was tatty with an unclean loo and shower with faulty trap. I also asked if I could borrow a bathrobe but was told that would cost me £20. A bit of a shame as a loyal Accor member for years.

I ordered a twin room. What I was given was a room with two child’s beds. A standard uk single bed is 3 feet wide, these beds were no where near and were literally just the width of my shoulders. I would more describe them as a caravan or camping bed. I’m 6’3” and 140kg and I had the most uncomfortable night ever. I could not sleep due to my arms and legs and myself continuously falling out of the bed because it was so narrow. Because of this I pulled a muscle in my back and am still suffering. When I checked out I was asked if everything was okay with my stay. I told the receptionist my issue but they were uninterested so I turned away and left and will not return. At £150 a night I feel like I’ve been mugged. Next time I will spend my money wisely and choose somewhere with a standard size bed.

Facilities at the hotel were generally as we expected. However, the staff appeared over stretched by numbers of guests on every front ie. check-in, at the bar and especially in the restaurant which we booked for dinner on the first night and breakfast on both days. There were extended waits for food and drink when ordered and long queues to get in. Our room had not been serviced when we returned to the hotel at 8:00pm on the Sunday. Food from other rooms was left uncollected in corridors overnight.

We booked a room for 2 adults and 1 child, the sofa bed was very uncomfortable and we all ended up in the same bed, my wife moved to the sofa bed in the middle of the night, but did not have a good sleep at all. The TV display was not good as one side was black. Mentioned it at the desk, soon after checking in, was advised it would be looked at. Still was not looked at by the 2nd day, evening. When we returned from day out, I went back and requested another room due to the sofa bed and TV, we were given the room next door. This should have been offered straight away as the first 2 days were affected by this, specially when you expect to be able to relax at a hotel. The sofa bed in the next room was just as uncomfortable so again we were stuck in one bed together. Also the volume on the tv was locked so could not go down all the way, I can understand having an upper limit, but why a lower one? When others were sleeping I could not watch the tv due to not being able to turn down the volume. We are looking to visit Cambridge again in a few months, but will have to look around. The hotel was good other than this, but it did have a big impact on the stay.

We have been visiting for a few years now, and I was pleased that the breakfast offer, swimming and gym facilities, maintenance of rooms was still of a high standard. There was always a member of staff available to assist, and the breakfast was always very well serviced and managed. I have some feedback about our checkin. We were given the wrong room key. The 1st time we tried to open the door the cards did not work, so I went to reception. The cards were updated so when we were able to open the room door but someone was already occupying the room as there clothes etc was already in the room. I went back to reception to report this and was assigned a different room, I was dealt with by a different member of staff who apologised. Housekeeping were called to make up thr sofa bed but when they arrived because they had bren assigned the 1st room number they couldnt make up the 2nd new room and said that reception needed to instruct them so I went back down again to reception to inform. As I am sure you are aware the security issue is a concern, especially with the recent news of security breach and assault that has occurred in Travelodge. I think this is very serious and training to staff on this point needs to be regular and regularly reviewed.
