Was there for a private function. The bedroom was freezing cold when we arrived even after shutting the windows and turning up the thermostat. The function room was freezing and so was the food. The hotel was very under staffed and some of the staff were extremely rude when you spoke to them. Breakfast time was ridiculous no cups or plates and once again the food was cold. Machines for hot water did not work so they were using jugs for hot water which was cold when I made a cup of tea. We have stayed here many times before but it seems like the hotel has gone down hill.

Nice Room, but shambolic meals

The accommodation at the hotel - for what we paid, happy with the room. However, two complaints about evening dinner and the following morning's breakfast: The evening meal for 130 people attending a masonic dinner had all been pre-ordered for the function we attended, so we all knew what we were eating. Sitting down at 7:00pm, the starters arrived okay, but everything else after that was shambolic: - the main courses started arriving 1.5 hours after the starters had been cleared - the main meals were mostly lukewarm and some looked like they'd been on their plates for some time - some of our table members were not served at the same time as us - the table wines arrived during the main course, which was 2 hours after we'd all sat down - it was around 10:15 before the desserts arrived, even though the main course dinner plates had not been cleared - at 11:30, our tables had not been cleared, our coffee had not arrived, and there were no staff in sight Upon retiring from the function at 00:15, the tables had still not been cleared nor had coffee been served. At breakfast, replacement breakfast items were not replenished in good time causing queues and a rush when they were Even food at the serving counter was not as hot as it should have been, and some looked very dry Tables were not cleared Both coffee machines were 'out of order' and the reason given was inadequate; granule coffee was clearly from a jar If we were to attend the same function in 2021, it is extremely unlikely we will seek overnight accommodation here again and will find somewhere else in town. We were embarrassed for the organisers of this.

Was shocked upon arrival how old & dated this place was, the lady on the reception said, we are a White Label hotel atm as we asked if this was an Accor Hotel and if we would receive points on our booking. We booked last minute half board, the steak that we ordered came our nearly all fat, & when we complained to the barman, his reply, spoken to chef we have no more & not much more of anything else and dont know when we will get another delivery.so asked for a cheeseboard, we dont have any cheese, asked for other things, no was the answer, all not available,Hopefully this is due to a MAJOR upgrade needed, and will then become the usual standard of Accor Hotels.

The whole hotel seems dated and run down. The room we had was filthy. The bedding and towels were fine but the bed itself had stains on it. The bath tub was also grimey.

Terrible nights sleep

The bed in room 214 was beyond uncomfortable, when you lie on it you sank to the middle. The duvet was too small for the bed so not only where we lying on each other we struggled to stay warm all night as the covers where so thin!!

Hotel is dated and should not advertise itself as having a Spa and facilities, them being in such a state. Very dirty, and I have seen some dirty locker and changing rooms. The sauna and swimming area needs a good scrub and money spent on it. Wouldn’t return

Convenient and cheap enough - but service and decor a bit lacking

The hotel was the perfect location for my recent visit to Harlow, and the car park had plenty of spaces. The room was comfortable and quiet enough. Breakfast items were well cooked and there was a reasonable selection. The hotel is a bit tired and could do with some refurbishment - lots of damaged bits and pieces in the room. Service was a bit hit and miss - nobody at reception when I arrived to check-in, so had to go off to the bar to find someone. Nobody at breakfast either for most of the time, and a few items (scrambled egg, bacon) had run out and weren't quickly replaced. It's also a shame the breakfast coffee is from a machine - no matter how flash the machines might look, the coffee always tastes bad. Most of the staff I met were nice enough, I just got the feeling they were rushing around trying to do so much, it made them appear invisible a lot of the time. For the price paid, it was OK.

Nobody on reception at check in 14-10. Found staff in restaurant. Check in friendly & efficient. Room very dated. Toilet seat broken, safe not working. Reported to reception, toilet fixed within two hours (+++) informed no safes worked in hotel. Room key card did not work on three occasions. Ensured not put near mobile phone or magnets, as have had previous experience in other hotels. But long walk to reception on two occasions late at night is not helpful. Room tired and jaded, bathroom although clean, had rust on shower poll, and mould on ceiling. Basic breakfast provision, both hot and cold was ok, but some food over cooked, so it was dried out. As we stayed over Christmas period, only expected limited room servicing, but thought coffee and sugar sachets would have been replenished. Bar staff, waiting staff, night reception staff all helpful, but let down by facilities. For the price paid, it was ok but not good. Accor Ltd need to invest in the rooms, which will probably increase revenue.

We found the lighting poor and the shower was a disaster as it kept shooting off the stand. On the plus side the bed was very comfortable and the staff friendly. We use this Hotel for its proximity to our daughters home and will continue to do so as it suits our needs for the few nights we use it.

Not suitable for wheelchair user

The hotel was booked through Trivago, I was assured the room would be suitable for myself as a wheelchair user, I also rang the hotel to check and was told the room would be suitable. I also emailed the hotel and was told the adapted rooms were unavailable but we could use a room close to reception that would be ok. On arrival the receptionist, said she had no notification of me being s wheelchair user and had been put on the second floor with no lifts in the hotel. She found a room that we could use with a stair lift for my wheelchair, the room was not suitable at all but after a long journey from Liverpool and visiting a friend in a hospice to say our last goodbye we decided to manage. We were told to ring reception if we needed to use the lift, there was no phone in the room do each time my husband had to find s member of staff. On the Sunday there were no staff available who knew how to use the lift so we were given the keys to use the lift ourselves. The hotel seems to be used as some sort of halfway house with people taking their own food in and getting crockery and cutlery from staff to eat in their rooms.there was a girl who spent all weekend walking around the hotel in her dressing gown, and drinking cans of lager which she had brought in and she wasn't the only one who was doing this.The staff were as helpful as possible in the circumstances, but it was not a great stay, also we had a meal in the hotel and my husband ordered a burger which looked under cooked so he sent it back and when it came back it looked exactly the same so he didn't eat it. So no were were not at all satisfied.

Good value overall and close to the M11 and Stansted

The hotel is conveniently located close to the M11. The place is looking a bit tired in places but there was some evidence of recent refurbishment such as new carpet in the passageway to the bedrooms. The room was adequate, but had a few damaged items such as the bath panel, and the soap dispensers. The walls are thin and we could clearly hear the television from the room next door, but thankfully we were not disturbed by early risers and had a good night's sleep. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, but swearing loudly when guests are within earshot does not come over as very professional. I would stay again but I do hope they invest a little more in the property to bring it up to scratch.

Staff friendly, but sadly the beds were very worn so dipped in the middle. Ordered food (cheese and ham toastie) it came quickly but a toastie should all be toasted not just 2 bits of toast with a piece of ham and a piece of cheese in it. For the price it was very very disappointing. Room was very cold when we entered so we put the heating on but then got really hot and couldn't turn it back down. Fault I think. Had a cot bed in my room. Standard travel cot but no extra sheet to cover my son in just a towel. ( Would u want to cover yourself in a towel to go to sleep?)
