We had a great holiday overall and have been repeat customers for the past four years, which says a lot about how much we’ve enjoyed staying with Rixos Sharm Hotel in the past. However, we did feel that standards have slipped since our previous visits. The service, particularly in the Palm Buffet, was noticeably poorer than before. Drinks were often poured in very small measures, and there seemed to be too many staff in blue suits giving orders rather than helping guests. The beach bar is in a beautiful setting, but surprisingly there’s nowhere to sit at the bar itself and there’s a general lack of furniture in the area, which makes it difficult to relax and enjoy the space. The speciality restaurants are really nice and the service there is good overall, although if you dine at 9pm the experience feels rushed, as if staff are eager to finish for the night. One of our best waiters was Mustafa — he was always smiling, looked genuinely happy in his work, and is a real credit to himself & a great asset to the hotel. We would still be happy to return, but management really need to get a grip on the situation, especially regarding the poor quality, unbranded drinks — some didn’t seem like the real deal. All in all, we did enjoy our stay, but we found ourselves complaining far more than we ever have on previous visits, which was disappointing given how much we’ve loved this hotel over the years.
