Beautiful resort, suburb staff, insufficient information

PRO: The staff are truly 5-star and take great pride in helping guests. The landscaping and pool are stunning and private. Food is excellent CON: There is a great lack of information. When EXACTLY are the restaurants open? When does the boat sail and to where? How do you get to the kayaks & cenote (and you need to know these even exist since you are not told about them)? How to visit other Mayakoba resorts. MAJOR PROBLEMS: For my trip, there were two issues that really need to be addressed. First I arrived at 4:00pm and my room was not ready till 5:15pm. Unacceptable at a 5-star resort. Second, the floor above us had a burst pipe and water was leaking through our ceiling. We called maintenance and all they did was put a towel down. We are still here and overnight the entire ceiling above the bathtub is now leaking and the drywall is falling down. Yikes. NOTE: My stay was for a travel convention with most of the hotel dedicated to that. So I understand check-in being slow. But waiting more than an hour is unacceptable (especially for people who will hopefully go home and sell your hotel). I also understand using rooms that were newly renovated (I took the plastic off the TV since it had never been used), but when maintenance is called due to water damage, I feel it should have been better addressed. As for the lack of resort information, again, there should have been an info sheet stating all of the current restaurant/bar/pool times, what activities are available in Mayakoba, how to visit the other resorts if decided, etc. We were here to learn about the hotel and Fairmont could have presented a better product.

Beautiful property. Lives up to it's name, makes clients feel Royal. The staff were extremely friendly and always wanting to do more for you. The hotel had very good facilities and the Gym was well equipped. Concierge were always there to guide you and recommended good restaurants. A special thanks to.Hassan who served us at the breakfast place.

The staff was pleasant but there were several communication issues. Transfer times were never communicated correctly, and I rarely received what I ordered at breakfast. The food was not that great for the price. The room was very nice and the staff was very helpful. The location was not good. I was there for a tradeshow and the commute time was way too long. In addition, my room was quite far from the lobby and there were partiers there two nights in a row, knocking on doors and making a lot of disturbances. This was quite uncomfortable given the distance between myself and the security/lobby. Maryam was my rep while I was there and she was wonderful. Extremely helpful.
