ibis budget Genève Palexpo Aéroport 1 star

By mistake we first tried to check in at "Hotel Ibis Geneve Aeroport", which is the hotel that is closest to the airport, before we realized that we had booked at "Hotel Ibis Palexpo". After a walk through empty residential villa streets, a couple of parks and a football field, we found the right hotel in the dark. Once in, check in was quick and it was a nice sleep in a fresh room. On our way back to the airport next morning we went by bus number 5 which was smooth and only took a few minutes. Would have been good to be clearly noticed at Palexpo and bus line 5 already before check-in.

This was close to the airport, had free wifi, bathroom in the room and lots of plug ins. Nearly everything you need. A mini fridge would be a nice addition.

The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Stagf were very informative and happy to help with questions. Their english was very good. The rooms were basic but very clean and well set out. It was a pleasant stay.

Okay hotel, the "hooks" for a coathanger is not well, because the paint surface is very slippery and because there is no "stop" there could be a good use of a little "Rubber ring" to stop the coathanger from falling down...

So easy to get to after landing at GenevaAirport, just a 5 minute walk away (so no need for Shuttle Buses). Within easy reach of all the major train connections, and all the Palexpo exhibition amenities.

I like the rooms here and the location. Modern and functional. The check in was less friendly or well organised on this occasion but check out was lovely.

Did the trick close to airport

We booked 2 rooms for 2 families to spend in Geneva 2 nights. Everything was excellent (from quick check-in and very helpful staff to very good breakfast), but last night at the room #104 the second family found a cockroach. Did it influence our experience? It spoiled it. P.S. I also found out, that those bookings were not considered in my points balance.

No intercom service and power sockets limited and wardrobe not available

I hold an overseas passport whilst simultaneously a Permis B issued in Lausanne. During check-in, when I gave my Permis B, the staff was unwilling to accept it; they insisted on my passport. Fortunately, as I was flying out of Geneva in the afternoon of 5/2/20, I had it with me. In Switzerland, I don't carry my passport around as I have a Permis B. When I questioned the staff about Ibis not honouring the Permis B, she became defensive and said it was a Geneva Police regulation. She went on to say that despite having made an advance payment, if I couldn't produce my passport for identification, I will not be allowed to stay.

Friendly staff, breezy service, value for money. Very easily accessible (walkable from airport). I had a few problems: 1. the bath drainage was slow, it caused water logging while shower. 2. The city tax was increased after I reserved, it was never told to me beforehand. 3. The breakfast is more bland now. The nuts and raisins are missing. 4. the lack of backrest/chair in the room caused my back to strain while working in my computer from the room.
