The ibis Budget at Geneva Airport was the ideal location to step off the train from Zurich and recharge the batteries overnight for my flight. Easy to walk to fro the railway station at the airport or a short trolley bus ride away, the hotel itself is an inexpensive oasis. Friendly staff, comfortable room, quiet and close to shops and restaurants if needed.

I had read some good reviews and was hopeful this would be ok for one night after a long travel day. In hindsight, I would have chosen to push on and ride the bus into the city to stay somewhere else for a little more money. This was a very budget stay. The room was hot, you couldn’t open the window, no AC, not a very comfortable bed, etc. It was ok, and the shower was decent. But it was worse than I was expecting after reading some reviews.

I had to book in emergency due to 9pm flight cancellation. Well situated, accessible by bus number 10 (4 stops) from the airport, and 15 mins away from city centre (same bus) and main train station. Next to the hotel, there is a big mall (commercial centre), with food shop Migros which sells warm cooked meals and salads for lunch time, among other things. The hotel has also a restaurant for lunch and dinner. Decent breakfast with selection of bread, pastries, cheese, ham, fruits, cereals, and drinks (juice; tea/coffee/milk/chocolate); very quiet area, despite the main road being nearby. Friendly and efficient staff.

We overall enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Two things worth mentioning: 1. We had no control over the temperature. Something it was warm and we couldn't do anything about it. 2. My access cards were deactivated, so I couldn't get to our rooms, so I went downstairs via the stairs to get it fixed. But I got stuck in the stairs because you need your access cards to get out of the stairs!!

I stayed at this location twice flying in/out of GVA. The room was clean and about the size one would expect for a budget hotel in Europe. Breakfast at the cafe was decent and reasonably priced. The two negatives that stood out were that the room was just 1-2 degrees too warm to be comfortable and the toilet room was surrounded in plastic, which was weirdly loud.
