After starting our family trip in North Goa, we moved south and spent a day at the Novotel Dona Sylvia. Our only regret was not booking it for a longer duration, as it was easily the highlight of our entire trip. ​We checked in at 3 PM and were pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade, thanks to the wonderful Gita Naik. As Accor Gold members, we also appreciated the four drink vouchers and two welcome drinks, which we enjoyed as refreshing mocktails at the first-floor bar. ​Highlights of our stay: ​The Food: The breakfast spread at Seagull was massive and high quality. We also returned for an à la carte dinner; the Peri Peri Prawns were easily the best we had in Goa. (Bonus: We saved 30% using our Accor Plus Explorer discount!) ​The Property: Our room was spotless and well-maintained. The standout feature is the direct beach access. The beach itself was clean, quiet, and felt very private. ​Service: The team was very accommodating, granting us a late checkout at 4 PM, which was a huge help with a 5-month-old. ​One Suggestion: While the hospitality was great, many activities—including pool floats—incurred an extra charge. It would be a great gesture if the management made these complimentary for guests.

The hotel grounds were beautiful, and all of the staff were lovely. It caters for lots of weddings and seminars, giving the hotel a corporate feel rather than a holiday resort, but it was interesting watching the people come and go and didn't impact our stay.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights, and honestly, the experience was quite disappointing. Right from check-in, the attitude at the front desk set the tone for the stay. The staff was not polite and came across as rude and dismissive. Any query or request felt like a burden to them, and the overall interaction lacked basic courtesy that you would expect from a premium property. There was a wedding event at the property, and the noise from loud music and announcements went on for most of the day. It was extremely disturbing, and there was no prior information or any effort from the hotel to manage the noise for in-house guests. The maintenance of the property also needs serious attention. The swimming pool was not well maintained and there were a lot of mosquitoes inside water.
