The reception was not as usual

Perfect views of Bosporus from every corner of the hotel. Roof bar is great, panoramic room offered great views. Breakfast was also fulfilling. Only downside was the service speed at pool as well as food/drink quality, which was unmatching to the rest of what the hotel offers.

I am an Accor member and I used to be a Swissotel member since many years ago. Despite the shortcomings due to the pandemic, my stay was good, but I admit that I faced some problems with the room. The hotel was packed with families, enjoying the last summer weekends of the year, and as I arrived late in the evening, they could not satisfy my request for an upgrade, and even worse, there were no non-smoking rooms left for me. I am an allergic person, so I had 2 really bad nights in a smoking room overlooking the worst and most noisy part of the hotel. Open window in order to breath some fresh air was not an option as the loud music from a dance room or disco was equally very disturbing. The staff were very kind, and tried to compensate me with access to the executive lounge etc. Nevertheless, it was a slight disappointment, especially combined with the fact that due to the pandemic, no descent restaurant was open for a discrete business lunch that I had planned; therefore I was forced to find another venue outside the hotel. To cut a long story short, this was definitely a no value for money stay; however, the stunning location, the incredible views and the polite staff made me think, that it's definitely worth trying to stay here once again, in one of my next visits to Istanbul.

Overall, I honestly LOVED the space. It was absolutely immaculate, had an incredible view, the food was great, and the check-in experience was relatively seamless. But that's where my experience starts to fall flat - there were so, so many parts of the experience in which I feel like Swissotel could've gone the extra mile, and failed to. For example - when I first got into my room, there was a slight mildew-y odor - I think from the curtains. I mentioned it the front desk, and they sent an air purifier that didn't help. I mentioned it again, and instead of suggesting to move me to a different room, they instead opted to clean the place. That didn't fix it. Then, there was the time when I had JUST missed breakfast at 11 o'clock on the dot. Instead of offering me something like a few trays to go, they instead just simply said, "SORRY." The disappointing thing was that I'd already paid for breakfast. They did end up getting us some to-go snacks, but we were still quite hungry afterward and I wasn't offered an alternative other than, 'sorry, you're outta luck!' When I later went to mention it to the front-desk, instead of immediately offering me some sort of simply thing like maybe a few drink vouchers at the Swiss Cafe I basically had to ASK for it. I feel like this is something that is typically handled quite seamlessly at these properties. Then there were a few other details that were just minor snags and roadblocks that added up to an overall meh experience - when a friend and I had gone to the rooftop, it was quite a cold night and they chose to sit us at the top-most part. Needless to say, without any heat lamps it was WAY, WAY too cold for us to hangout on the rooftop area. Beyond that, the first night I stayed there, the sound from the rooftop bar area kept me up until late at night. I was able to sleep through it with earbuds, but still. These are just a handful of the details that added up to a relatively EH experience that I've rarely experienced at other similar 5-star resorts. That said, the food was immaculate, the place was beautiful, the Hamam experience was other-worldly, but I couldn't recommend or even suggest that I'll be back anytime soon. There are simply too many other properties in the area at that pricepoint that provide a better, more seamless experience.
