I’m gonna be honest and start this off by saying the rooms, f&b, and facilities are great. But a good staycation experience does not consist of only those, hospitality plays a huge role in it. And that’s what exactly missing in Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara. Several days before my arrival, I had already sent an email to the hotel informing them that my parents are celebrating their anniversary and coincidentally my birthday is also coming in several days. Upon my arrival, I was not directed to the lounge for “exclusive check-in” as how it should’ve been for Platinum & Diamond members. No status recognition was shown at all. Our rooms were not initially upgraded, and when I asked about it, the staff said they arranged for connecting rooms (which I didn’t ask for—I specifically emailed asking for an upgrade for our special occasions.) After I mentioned it they upgraded one of the two rooms I booked, though it was not on a high floor. So my parents stayed in the basic room at 20th floor while I was upgraded to a room in 5th floor at the last minute. The staff also didn’t bother to explain my benefits as a Platinum member, or even inform the hotel’s basic facilities. Basically just handed me a letter for me to read by myself. At the evening the “welcome amenity” was delivered to my room, which consisted of 2 pieces of chocolates and 2 pieces of biscuits, nothing was given for my parents’ room except for the simple anniversary decor. It was very underwhelming to say the least. No birthday decor for mine either. During breakfast at the lounge I was not shown the ala carte menu until I had to ask myself (the staff only offered various egg options lol). The portion was small and yet they limited it to one per guest, which is very stingy. I have stayed at Sofitel in other countries and this has never ever been the case for the ala carte menu. It was such an awkward moment when my father and I ordered another and the staff said “It’s actually one per guest per day. Maybe you can try it tomorrow”. Like, wow… Way to ruin our morning. If that’s your newly implemented rule then at least have it written on your welcome letter OR the ala carte menu itself. Nowhere was it written so. It’s like embarrassing your own guests. My father and I didn’t find the atmosphere in the lounge comfortable nor welcoming. Next time I’d opt for Pullman KLCC instead. Even though their rooms & facilities may not be as good, their hospitality was way, way better and left a good impression right from the moment I checked in. I felt much more recognized & appreciated as a Platinum member there. Overall this was a surprising experience as I have never had a bad experience at other Sofitel before. I really wouldn’t recommend staying here, save your Accor loyalty member elsewhere.

A great stay as usual and this my favorite hotel in KL especially when I need to mix work and leisure. Rooms are spacious and hotel staff are all very helpful incl door man. Some staff also has a good memory able to recognise me too. Special mention about Club Lounge Mgr Ekbar and team. Club lounge is always a good place work from as well as serving good evening cocktail. The team is also very attentive and ensure everyone is well taken care during meal time. Good job!

I had a very disappointing stay at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur. The staff appear completely untrained, providing poor service at every turn. The property itself is tired and feels cheap, with no signs of proper upkeep or maintenance in the rooms. Despite several management changes, the hotel seems to be getting worse rather than better. If you’re considering this hotel for a stay, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.
