well located, but room too small, too noisy, and basic breakfast

Cher Monsieur, Merci d’avoir pris le temps de partager votre expérience. Nous sommes ravis que notre emplacement vous ait convenu. En revanche, nous sommes sincèrement désolés d’apprendre que la chambre, le niveau de bruit et le petit-déjeuner n’aient pas répondu pleinement à vos attentes. Nous souhaitons également rappeler que, bien que votre réservation initiale ait été effectuée à une date différente et en tarif non flexible, nous avons volontiers procédé au changement de date et maintenu le même type de chambre afin de vous offrir la meilleure solution possible. Vos remarques concernant le confort, l’insonorisation et le petit‑déjeuner ont cependant bien été prises en compte. The staff was very friendly and explained everything. Room was small but I expected that. Unfortunatly the room had a musty smell so I ended up keeping the window open most of the time for the fresh air. Breakfast was standard, no issues. What would have made this a higher rating would have been the ability to make coffee/tea in my room in the morning, I survive off of coffee in the morning. I understand there is the ability in the RC, but it's better for waking up to be able to make it in the room.

I arrived at the hotel around 22h30 during a very hot night (a heatwave was on Paris). The night manager was not welcoming. He gave me a tiny room (the smallest hotel room I have ever had, not more than 4-5 sqm) on the third floor and explained that I would have to use the stairs because the lift is out of order. In the room, the airco unit was not working, and the air was hot, so I called the night manager to check it out. He seemed displeased and asked me in an accusatory tone whether I had tried to switch on the airco and whether I had meddled with it. I just said I tried to switch it on, but to no avail. Since he did not manage to switch the airco on either, I asked whether he could not put me in another room. This seemed to annoy him but he agreed to check. He then called me to a room on the first floor, where the airco was not working either but was at least blowing some air. As the heatwave was on Paris, I spent two very bad nights in a room too hot without air. And it was not possible to open the windows as the street was too noisy. I asked the night manager whether he could give me my invoice for the stay, but he said I should ask someone else in the morning. The hotel is generally clean, although it is clear that the cleaning team is rounding up the angles and not looking at the details. It is in need of refurbishment and not up to today’s standards. The breakfast is nice and simple; nothing fancy, but you don’t need anything more. In conclusion, I do not recommend this hotel and will not stay there again.
