I stayed two nights at the Mercure Pigalle and really enjoyed the hotel, nice/friendly reception, clean rooms, sufficient space in the room, good bed and excellent breakfast

The hotel is sweet (although our room was small) and the staff were patient and helpful but the location is spoilt by sex shops and table dancing bars. I know I should have checked out the street beforehand but I wanted to be within easy reach of the Gare du Nord, Boulevard Haussman and the Basilica at Saint-Denis and this seemed like the best option.
