Overpriced breakfast

TripAdvisor rating 4.0/5

rav323 TripAdvisor review

Clean, good for a stopover. Breakfast was poor value - definitely not worth 15€ per person. No one checked anyway who had paid so as a family you could just pay for the adults and let the kids eat some of yours. Or avoid altogether and grab something from the huge supermarket 2 mins down the road.

Dear Rav323, Thank you for your comment. We are sorry if the breakfast price seems excessive, we try to offer the best value for money. And it's true that quality comes at a price. We'd like to put a note on your profile so that we can offer you breakfasts if you come back to us. To do so, please send an e-mail to h9958@accor.com. We can't find your name or room number in your comment. We wish you a nice day. Kind regards. ibis Wavre Brussels East.

Fine for a single nights stay

TripAdvisor rating 3.0/5

LadyDoom TripAdvisor review

I stayed at this hotel with my mother whilst on a Leger holidays coach trip - for one night it was fine, but the room we were in was VERY cramped for two people so would have been horrible for anything more than one night. Space aside, the room was very clean and presentable, the beds were firm but comfortable, however the mattress toppers moved with the slighest movement from you - with the result I was slowly slid out of the bed at around 2AM! The room came equipped with an aircon, it may have been my fault, but this was very poor and it took the entire stay to cool the room by a single degree. It was also on the noisier side so not ideal for light sleepers. Aside from this the room was quiet. There were 5 plug sockets in the room, but no USB charging capabilities. The TV worked intermittently as well. The bathroom was clean but small, and the shower head could have done with a deep clean, but the shower itself was great, water heated very quickly and had excellent pressure. Breakfast was opened a little early for us which we greatly appreciated and was very well laid out with plenty of room to maneuver. Food was pleantiful, of good quality and regularly refreshed. Staff at the hotel varied in friendliness, with the morning staff being more friendly than the evening staff but we had minimal interactions with either. If I was booked into this hotel again on another coach trip I'd be fine with it, but I am unlikely to book this for personal use were I in the area.

Dear Ladydoom, Thank you for sharing your opinion. Next time, please let us know if you have any problems during your stay. We could have moved you to a larger room. We could have given you a USB plug, we could have sent the technician to check if there was a problem with the air conditioning and television. You can always contact us on the email h9958@accor.com to give us more information, because in your comment you do not communicate us neither your name nor your number of room, difficult for us in these conditions to be able to take the necessary measures about the subjects which you enumerate. We look forward to hearing from you and wish you an excellent day. Best regards. ibis Wavre Brussels East.

Attacked by Chinese tourist without any security at Ibis hotel

As discussed with Mr Libouton, Manager at Ibis Belgium, please find a description of the incident that occurred at Ibis Wavre Brussels East on 27.06.2024 and my stay from 26-28.06.2024. I arrived with my sister at the hotel on the 26th of June for a business meeting the next day. At the front desk I was greeted kindly and professionally and given a coupon for two welcome drinks. Since I am a member at Accor it was confirmed that my stay would cost 166 Euro as I have used 2000 of my Accor points (I have stayed 2 months in the Ibis hotel in Salmiya, Kuwait previously under my maidan name Nadia Abdulghafoor) to decrease the cost and indicated online that it was for a business trip. (Unfortunately, I was charged differently, please view attachment) Arriving at the room, we were disappointed by the room’s cleanness as there was hair in the bathroom and there was only 2 towels available (One we used for our hands. Hence there was a shower towel missing). The lady at the reception kindly provided us with more towels upon request. On the 27th of June we left in the morning with a sign on the door handle for the room to be cleaned. I told the Ibis lady at the hotel to please make sure that the room is cleaned. When we came back in early afternoon the room was not made. I asked again if they could please remember to make the room. After a long meeting in the afternoon we arrived in the evening and decided to take the offered complementary drink. We were told by the young lady at the hotel that only one drink was permitted and that we had to pay the other one. After explaining that this is not the case and the we were told otherwise the day before we were given 2 apple juices. We drank the juices at the far right end of the lobby where the sofas were. I received a call and my sister decided to go to the room. While I was talking on the phone, a Chinese lady ran to my big German TK Max bag where I had another bag inside with important business documents and my Belgian passport and took it. I was fast enough to grab the handles and take it away from her. She was outraged and said I stole her bag. There was no way that my bag was hers! The whole Chinese gang stood behind her with menacing eyes and I was afraid. I ran behind the bar and the young Ibis lady of the hotel told me to show the contents of my bag. I refused! This was not acceptable, especially regarding data protection. The Ibis lady then said she will call the manager of the hotel and the whole bar was surrounded by the Chinese gang. I decided to use my courage and used my teacher voice and said, “ I am Belgian and don’t you dare touch me, I will call the police and then you are out of here…” They let me go out from behind the bar next to the reception and I hurried to my room.” It was a very frightening situation. I felt I was not protected by any Ibis staff. The Ibis lady was not enough trained and too young to deal with this situation. I believe there should have been more experienced Ibis staff when such a big group arrives at the Ibis hotel. When I was in my room I explained everything to my sister and she said that we should file a complaint. We went to the reception. I took only my phone with me as I was afraid that somebody will try to take my hand bag from me. Arriving at the lobby there was police. We asked to speak to the manager, but the young 20 year old Ibis lady said that the manager was not at the hotel and he asked previously to speak to me. I then asked to speak to Mr Libouton personally on the phone. We arranged to speak in person the next day. I hardly slept the whole night as the situation has shook me. On another note, the room was not vacuumed well and the nut shells that were on the table were not cleaned; also there was only one little garbage in the bathroom and none in the bedroom which makes it difficult to dispose of garbage. After speaking to Mr Libouton personally on the 28th of June, 2024, he kindly suggested to compensate for the horrible experience by reimbursing my whole stay and offering another stay at Ibis for free with VIP treatment and free tickets to Walibi. I accepted. However, after writing 2 emails with no response and having spoken on the phone with him today 05.07.2024, Mr Libouton promised to keep his word and send me an email confirming his compensation before leaving on vacation tomorrow, but to my deep disappointment he has not kept his word.

The hotel is well located, clean and quite equipped with power charger for e-car. The cost is low but at least a bottle of water per day into the room should be available.

Hello, Thank you very much for your great feedback! Normally we always put one bottle of water per day in all our rooms... There must have been an error with the housekepping...We sincerely apologize for this. We are looking forward to welcoming you back here soon! (we have put a note on your profile, you will receive two welcome drinks for your next stay with us) Kind regards. ibis Wavre Brussels East
