Problems once again

As always, the front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful, as was the lady in charge of the breakfast arrangements, and the breakfast was good. However, once again, the room was below standard. The door to the bathroom would only shut if pushed very hard or if the door handle was turned, and even then one had to push hard, and the handle is placed in a very awkward position, far too close to the door jamb. In shutting the door I woke my wife who could not go back to sleep for a very long time, which added to the difficulty of a long journey from our previous hotel. There were dark marks on the grouting of the shower, which looked like mould, and the net curtain rail was devoid of a net curtain. Having experienced so many problems with this hotel, it was not, in my view, worth asking for a change of room, especially given our state of extreme fatigue. I have already complained about the presence of mould in the rooms at Ibis Waterloo and was told that this was probably a consequence of the cleaning being done by an external contractor. This, however, is not a valid excuse. All that is needed to avoid this sort of problem is a regular inspection of the rooms by a member of the Ibis staff. In addition, the widespread presence of mould is presumably a breach of Belgian health and safety regulations.

Reception guy was excellent, really helped me out when I left my phone in the taxi

We understand your concerns about the lack of an in-house restaurant and the noise in the bathroom. While we do not have a restaurant within the hotel, we offer a 24-hour snack menu at our bar, and there is an independent restaurant in the same building. As for the noise, we apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused. We recommend requesting a room at the back of the building for a quieter experience during your next stay. I was here briefly for a few days over early Sept. The place is quite and clean. The staff are friendly and were very helpful with any requests I had. The breakfast was great and had a wide variety. Good value for money Hotel.

First night in Belgium and books in here for 2 nights. Great room and as usual bed was comfy, shower was great but tap on sink pathetic,but all in all very good. Only one slight thing, no fridge, would have been nice. Another thing I found while away if checkout is 11 why are house keeping knocking on the door at 9.30. Don’t like this.
