The hotel has a trendy/hip feel to it, which is quite appealing. The Medium Mama double room was comfortable and the bathroom, well equipped. The hotel is a little out of the way, in the north eats of Paris. The room however is a little very dark. The multiple light sources are unfortunately insufficient. There is also no kettle.

We stayed at Mama Shelter Paris East end of September 2026. We loved the cleanliness of the room and comfortable bedding. The hotel is well located in a somewhat residential neighborhood with easy access to public transportation to go anywhere in the city. Our room was facing rue Bagnolet so it was a bit noisy in the early hours of the morning as there is a bar right in front of the hotel. Bring earplugs and you’ll sleep like a baby.

The worst part of our stay was the clerk, especially the woman called “Bettina” in the reception desk. She was really rude, always gave sarcastic answers to our questions and her attitude was not hospitable towards us. She behaved as if our coming was disturbing to her.

Our first room had a dirty cotton bud under thw bed and the AC wasn’t working and our second room had a random black plastic thing and a pair of dirty boxers left in the room.

I had what it turned to be an old vacuum cleaner inside of my bedroom and next to the bed. It was quite gross to sleep near something that's naturally full of dust. When I checked in, I checked thoroughly, and the bathroom had definitely been cleaned, but it didn't feel 'fresh' at all. I had to open the window to freshen it; no perfume whatsoever. Had a hard time finding the hairdryer, had to even go to the reception to ask where it was. As for the breakfast: a jar with coffee doesn't seem to match the level of the hotel. An espresso machine is a hotel basic.

I previously enjoyed stays at both Mamashelter Shoreditch, and Paris East. I booked Mamashelter Paris East for a 5 night business trip, and was messaged by the bookings team shortly after that I would not be a able to share a standard double room with my Wife and 2 year old Child accompanying me. I was told we'd need a 40 EUR per night upgrade to a larger room. I accepted, and we were provided an accessible room on the 5th Floor. Our stay began with mixed experiences from Staff. Some were friendly, some not so friendly. I found the hotel low value, at 250 EUR per night after the upgrade we had no breakfast or amenities included. No cups in the room, no cutlery or Kettle. Everything was upon request. When we found what looked like 5 German Cockroaches in our room on the evening of the 4th Night with Mamashelter, we approached the desk the next day to resolve the issue. They offered a room change, with no apology to me personally. The woman at the desk simply looked shocked, and didn't seem to believe me. She asked for the evidence, which is promptly sent via email for inspection. Whilst I was working, my wife and daughter were assisted with the room change. Upon my return, I asked if they would be able to offer us any compensation for the issue. A discussion with the manager took place, and 40 EUR was offered as a discount for a stay of 5 nights valued at 1250 EUR. I felt this offer was not proportional to the issue, and I asked for a refund for the night that was affected by the bugs. I was told this was not possible, because the booking was made through booking.com. I mentioned that they had already increased the price by 200 EUR to accommodate my daughter. More discussions with the manager took place behind closed doors, and I was offered a refund of my room upgrade. I accepted this offer, and found out later that it only included the first 4 nights of our stay, after paying and reviewing the invoice. I have little faith in the management of this hotel after this experience. I had to negotiate extensively with staff for a minor refund. With seemingly no understanding by the staff that this is one of the worst things you can encounter as a hotel guest. A high price was charged for a poor service. We were not looked after, or made to feel particularly welcome. And the issue we presented to the team was not taken seriously. I could not recommend any Mamashelter after this experience, and feel bitter about what happened and how it was dealt with.

On arrival, the reception staff were very polite, welcoming, and professional. We were not happy with our first room, but the lovely lady on reception was extremely helpful and kindly found us another, more pleasant room. The bed was also very comfortable. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the evening meals. On both Saturday and Sunday, the fries were undercooked. We sent them back and asked for replacements, but unfortunately the second serving was still not very enjoyable. Despite this, our overall experience was very good, and we appreciated the excellent service and helpfulness of the reception staff.

The room was comfortable, the staff were very friendly, and, although we didn’t use the bar/restaurant, it had a very lively vibe. The neighbourhood was great for drinks when we got in on Friday night, and it was very easy to commute into other areas of Paris.

We had a really great stay here. The hotel has a cool atmosphere, a good location, and everything worked exactly as it should – but the real highlight was the staff. The service was genuinely excellent. Everyone we met was friendly, helpful and welcoming, and they made the whole stay feel easy and enjoyable. The only thing keeping this from being absolutely perfect was the rooftop terrace being closed on Sunday and Monday. We had mentally prepared ourselves for drinks with a view, so that was a small tragedy. First-world problems, admittedly. Other than that, we were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back. Great place, great people and a very good Paris base.
