I stayed for 3 nights from the 31st of march to the 3rd of april 2026 and everything was fine but sadly, the experience was tarnished due to the "24 hour" reception not actually being 24 hours. I came back on my second night at around 1am to find nobody at the desk and to be locked out of the hostel for over 15 minutes. As a female solo traveller I was very distressed and rang the joandjoes number to nobody on the other end and just being placed on hold. I rang the reception that I could see from the door and no staff member was there. I then rang my boyfriend hysterical as I didn't know what to do or where to go as I was alone in this city. As I was about to make other arrangements a staff member came down and let me in. Not good enough at all and this isn't safe for solo travellers.

Pour des raisons de sécurité, les portes de l’établissement sont fermées durant la nuit, mais notre équipe reste toujours présente sur place. Il arrive que le personnel de réception soit momentanément occupé en cuisine ou dans d’autres espaces de l’établissement, ce qui peut expliquer ce délai de réponse. Par ailleurs, dans le cas d’une arrivée tardive, surtout pour une personne voyageant seule, nous recommandons vivement de prévenir la réception à l’avance afin que nous puissions organiser votre accueil dans les meilleures conditions. Nous comprenons néanmoins que cette situation ait pu être stressante pour vous et nous en sommes navrés. Vos retours sont précieux et nous permettent d’améliorer notre organisation. The room was extremely smelly, most things where broken, the smell lingered on clothes, dirty surroundings, no door men’s bathroom, handryer broken, no soap. The worst experience we checked out after one night we had 4 days and were not asked why just told that we weren’t allowed a refund if we left

The place was good for the most part. It was advertised in photos that the beds had curtains but they had been removed when I got to my room. Additionally, the room was pretty stuffy and the bathroom had a weird smell. The breakfast included bread, some fruit, meat, cheese, eggs, and drinks. I recommend staying if it is for a very brief time.

Really really cold at night. Even though I repeatedly told the staff to turn up the temperature, it was still cold. And I stayed for three nights. The next day, I asked to turn up the temperature, and no one turned on the air conditioner on the third night. And I don’t know why you have to remove the curtain… it’s hard to fall sleep when there’s light at night.

dirty bathrooms and kitchen, worst upkeep and maintenance i have experienced in a hostel. was fine, but will not recommend anyone to stay here.
