I recently stayed at The Elysium Taksim in Istanbul, and overall, it’s a very good hotel in a prime location. The rooms are spacious and comfortable—much bigger than many in the Taksim area—with large, comfy beds that provided excellent sleep. The bathrooms (toilets and showers) are nice, modern, and spotlessly clean, which was a big plus. Location-wise, it’s fantastic: just about a 10-minute walk to Taksim Square, making it super convenient for exploring Istiklal Street, shops, restaurants, and public transport. No complaints there at all. Unfortunately, the check-in process was really unpleasant and frustrating. We arrived well past the official check-in time, but still had to wait in the lobby for almost an hour before our room was ready. I had to go to the reception desk twice to ask for an update, and each time they just told me to wait without any clear explanation or apology. On my second visit to ask, they finally said the room was ready—but then they let me sit in the reception area without calling me over. It turned out there was a shift change, and the new staff weren’t informed about me or my room status at all. I found this quite rude and unprofessional; it felt like poor communication and lack of basic courtesy from the team. Despite the rocky start, the rest of the stay was enjoyable thanks to the room quality and location. I’d recommend the hotel for its comfort and convenience, but be prepared for potential delays at check-in and consider arriving later if possible.

A lovely hotel in the heart of Istanbul. It is very well located, making it easy to explore the city on foot. Breakfast was fresh and satisfying, with a nice variety to start the day right. The room was comfortable, well kept, and a welcome place to unwind after sightseeing. We definitely recommend this hotel to friends and fellow travelers and would happily stay there again.

Subject: Unacceptable Tipping Demand from Bell Boy Mert at The Galata Hotel by M Gallery - Gold Accor Member Complaint Dear The Galata Hotel Management and Accor Customer Service Team, I am writing as a Gold tier Accor member to express my extreme disappointment with the service I received at your property during my recent stay. Prior to my departure, I emailed the hotel requesting to store my luggage for 3 days post-checkout, which is a standard benefit for Accor members like myself. The hotel confirmed this via email reply, assuring me it would be handled without issue. Upon returning to retrieve my luggage, the bell boy named Mert not only handled my bags but then aggressively demanded payment for this service. This is utterly disgusting, unprofessional, and a blatant violation of the courtesy storage promised as part of my membership perks. No such fee was mentioned in our prior communication, and tipping should never be coerced, especially for a complimentary service. This behavior reflects poorly on The Galata Hotel by M Gallery’s standards and Accor’s reputation for premium hospitality. I demand that Mert be immediately reprimanded and fired for this disgraceful conduct. I also request a formal apology, compensation in the form of Accor points or a future stay credit, and assurance that such incidents won’t happen to other loyal members.
