Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a room, but the room itself didn't feel like a good hotel (dusty carpet, seriously dated furniture, dirt in the corners). Breakfast left a bad impression; the scrambled eggs were half-raw and tasteless, and there was no clear understanding of where everything was or how to organize the food. We stayed at this hotel several years ago; the rooms were in much better condition, and the breakfast included a Turkish menu, which left a pleasant impression. Next time, we'll likely look for a different place to stay.

The Galata Hotel Istanbul is very well located, specially if it's a first visit to Istanbul. It's close to public transit, and walking distance from many important sites in the city. The rooms with the view have a fantastic view of the Galata Tower or the Bosphorus. The hotel is very clean, well maintained. Most of the staff are helpful, friendly, and professional (specially Shahrbanou (Guest Relations Manager), Ayhan (Housekeeping), and Ebru (serving staff). Overall, the hotel is more of a high 4-star as it does not meet some of the expectations of a five-star hotel.

Overall, we had good experience. Some of the shower need to be upgraded. Water runs out of the shower and the we had to use bath towels to dry the floor.
