We were initially given a room with two extremely soft mattresses pushed together (in a king size delux room). We immediately flagged this and said that I couldn’t sleep on such a soft mattress due to back injury, but were told that all the mattresses were the same. We pointed out that this wasn’t true as the two mattresses in our room were of different softness (and heights) albeit both very soft. We requested to change either mattress or room but were told that this wasn’t possible. They flipped the mattresses over, which improved them slightly and we were told that this was all they could do. We tried sleeping in the bed and were unable to sleep because it was so uncomfortable. Finally, at midnight, I called again almost in tears and insisted that this was not acceptable. They agreed to change our room but nobody helped us with our bags, they said someone would meet us at the new room in 5 minutes (once we had packed and moved our things ourselves) but nobody came - I had to go back to our original room and call again before someone came. Then in our new room which was front facing, we were woken very early by traffic noise. Nobody checked on us the day after we moved or asked if we were okay. We were only approached on our final morning by the customer liaison representative who was very nice and apologetic. The manager also apologised to us when we left and promised that this would not happen again. However, there is absolutely no way that I would stay at this hotel again. To get such poor beds in a company that sells beds (as M Gallery does) is shocking, and the customer service we received prior to the last day was completely unacceptable for a supposedly high quality, 5 star hotel. I booked through my workplace corporate travel department and will also be advising them of my experience. Overall it was an incredibly disappointing and uncomfortable experience, and not a hotel I would recommend - I would spend my money elsewhere in future.
