Well located, friendly staff. Helpful regarding evening meals being delivered to hotel. The room had a heater for warmth but it did dry the air which did make it slightly uncomfortable. Bathroom was clean. Standard room, but it wasn’t serviced. We mentioned this to reception, and they told us the rooms aren’t serviced unless requested (to help avoid going into room unnecessarily). Make sure you ask upon checkin if you want the room serviced. We prepaid for breakfast, but you needed to preorder/tick the items you required. No hot food was available, only pastries, fruit, cereal etc., but they were still charging full price for a very limited choice. I let reception know I was struggling with the menu choice as it wasn’t filling and without hesitation they refunded the breakfast costs. We went down to the Grassmarket and got a delicious takeaway Scottish breakfast each morning. We used Deliveroo and Ubereats for evening meals but the hotel can also suggest another group. I would stay here again, the hotel is basic and affordable and the location next to the Tron on the Royal Mile is first class. Like most businesses they are working under very difficult circumstances and good Covid protection in place. Guests should just be aware of the reduced breakfast menu and the servicing of the rooms.

Had to fill in a form due to COVID restrictions, but apart from that very cheap for New Year's Eve. Room very clean and staff very nice. The breakfast was definitely not worth 6.95 pounds, just some toast with jam.

Stayed for three nights during COVID restrictions - staff were lovely and friendly, and explained the restrictions clearly. The room was comfortable and clean (and I had a nice view of St Giles from the 4th floor). Felt very safe - plenty of access to hand sanitiser

Safe environment, breakfast whilst in covid was very well organised and a lot of choice. Hotel room very clean and comfortable. The only issue was the TV had freebies channels bug I could only get channels one to five.

Safety measures, distancing, hand sanitizers everywhere, it was really good to see this in place. The staff are welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble for them. I was allocated a room at the back of the hotel, as requested, and was very pleased with it. As always, the room was spotless, the bathroom pristine, showing a very high standard of housekeeping. The only thing different was that there were no china mugs on the hospitality tray, just disposable paper ones, but that was fine, perfectly understandable in the current situation. The breakfast was a little different too, with no hot buffet, obviously, but a cooked breakfast was done to order if required. It was well set out, with croissants in paper bags, fruit too. The tables were socially distanced and a one way system in place, all worked well. The lounge bar was open to serve alcohol, from 6pm-10pm, but drinks had to be consumed in the bedroom, sitting in the lounge was not allowed. I suppose to discourage social gathering.We decided to change the date of our next booking from mid November (due to the theatres still being closed and winter weather) to Spring next year. The duty manager, Simon, did this in a pleasant and efficient manner, so respect to him. We look forward to our return visit, with fingers crossed for a change in the current situation we are living in.

A brilliant stay, bed soft with plenty of pillows, plenty of hot water. Only issue is that majority of the tv channels didn't work due to no signal. Staff lovely definitely would stay again.

I stayed during Covid times, but the hotel had comprehensive protective measures in place and the friendly staff were always on-hand. My pleasant fifth-floor room had a superb view over Hunter Square and beyond across the city. I had takeaway food delivered one night, and a staff member very kindly brought it up to my room. The price was highly competitive for Edinburgh city centre. Breakfast wasn't great for vegetarians (e.g. no veggie sausages, beans or eggs), but I appreciate the restricted menu was due to Covid.

The staff at this hotel are super friendly and helpful, a real credit to Accor! The rooms are good and have a real bathroom rather than the more common places Ibis pod style ones.

Horrible!!! Not for Professionals and Family

I Literally felt I'm staying in a hostel. There is No sound proofing. The windows are so old that you'll feel cold breeze near Closed window. I was in scared throughout to keep my personal things in the room and go out for dinner. I felt someone could easily break-in!. This ironically came true when early in the morning someone (maybe hotel staff) without my permission inserted the key and opened the door. I was sleeping but immediately noticed this and the person saw me and slowly closed the door back again. This made me feel so uncomfortable that i Literally couldn't trust the hotel anymore. I took a shower with open door just to make sure i notice if somebody breaks In again. More over the Internet was not working for about 6 to 7 hours straight. I had to do some office work but a big NO. The list goes on!!! The only thing which i liked was pillow. Somehow it was comfortable. But again the bed i slept on was so old that i made creeky sounds all night. I don't recommend this Hotel to any Professional, To any Family, To any Couple. Don't destroy your honeymoon or family trip experience by staying here. I would only recommend this to students who have to save some money. But please you too take care of your personal belongings.
