Overall, a good and positive experience. Wish there were slightly bigger tables ( eg. for the kettle) and on the sides of the bed to put a C-pap machine, my books and charge my phone. A bit tight in the room. Daily breakfasts were plentiful. Helpful and friendly staff.

Very Small Room smelled like cat piss. Large damp spot outside bathroom door on carpet we could not figure out what it was from nor why it was getting larger. Mattress about 2” thick and kept sliding off. Only one small pillow upon arrival. Walk-in shower with no shelf or ledge for toiletries. The only thing this hotel has going for it is location right on Royal Mile. Loud at night. Would never stay here again.

Very good location but hotel only average: tiny room and bathroom with stained carpet; noisy at night (druggies in the square). Breakfast good. Overall the hotel was OK but we wouldn’t recommend it or use it again.

The hotel is in a great location and the breakfast was good offering lots of choice. Sadly the room was not good especially given how much it cost. The smell hit us as soon as we opened the door, we discovered it was coming from the wet carpet where the air con unit was leaking and had clearly been like this for a while. Should have been noticed by the house keeping staff and rectified before using the room for guests.

Very comfortable, helpful staff, rooms clean. Biggest downside was constant street noise. Would get too hot to keep window close and was unable to use the fan on the heating/cooling unit.

The hotel is well located and check in and out was smooth. However there were some concerning stains on both the carpet and unholstery, the toilet was mounted so that it was not level, the mattresses were quite thin and uncomfortable, and we were disappointed that we could not screen cast to the tv from our devices

I paid a hefty amount to book two rooms for four nights for four adults at IBIS Hunter Square, Edinburgh. As a senior citizen who has stayed in many types of hotels, this was by far the worst in terms of value for money. The rooms were tiny and cramped, with no space—pun intended—to move around. There was no intercom, so any request meant going down to reception, and family members in the two rooms had to visit each other instead of simply calling. Despite requesting adjacent rooms, we were placed on completely opposite corridors. When I asked to change rooms the next day, I was told I’d have to vacate one by 12 p.m. but couldn’t check into the new one until 3 p.m., leaving me without a room for three hours. Breakfast was one of the worst I’ve had, with very few options. That said, the staff—especially TANYA—was warm, polite, and professional, always chatting with us at reception, in the lounge, or at breakfast. She even gave us a parting hug the night before we checked out.
