This is the only Accor hotel in New Town. New Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I was happy that by staying at this hotel, I was able to visit both the Old Town and New Town. The hotel is close to Edinburgh Waverley Station and faces St Andrew's Square Garden in the centre of the New Town. It is near George Street. There are lots of restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel is in a historic building, a former mansion, and the atmosphere in the lobby, restaurant and bar is lovely. The hotel kindly upgraded us to a room on the top floor with a balcony. The room itself was neat and clean, with a modern design that made it very practical. The bathroom was also perfectly functional. From the balcony, there was a great view stretching from Edinburgh Castle to the New Town and on to the North Sea. I was able to relax on the balcony whilst drinking an espresso coffee. Breakfast is included for free, and there's a good choice of food. I really liked trying traditional Scottish food like haggis, porridge and smoked salmon. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
