I was very disappointed this was not up to my previous ibis hotel stays. I found the room very very basic, no fridge, very poor ill fitting curtains and blinds let in the light, very unusable plug locations, very poor lighting as well. The bedding was really ill fitting and kept coming off the mattress. The bathroom plumbing was so loud and there was a bad smell when the water was run in the sink, the shower gel dispenser was broken. I was there for the marathon festival but due to the noise from I assume a local night club (don’t think this was technically in the hotel) it was impossible to sleep until 3 am on the night before the race due to the beat from the music. This was so detrimental to race prep and impacted my entire experience. Even on the day of the race that had an 8 am start the breakfast was from 6 am was only limited menu and due to how most of the runners I spoke to that were staying ( due to the excellent location to the start line ) it was felt this was really unhelpful and I felt that as this was a one off event and so many guests were involved, they could have offered a full menu and an slightly earlier breakfast sitting. The food was good but the coffee machine and cold drink machine both had faults during my 3 night stay. The staff however were all lovely. I have stayed at ibis hotels before and was sorry to find this one to be not the standard I was hoping for.

This hotel was located within easy walking distance to the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, Hollyrood Palace, and many other sites. The hotel was clean and beds were comfortable. Employees were all polite and helpful. If we ever return to the area we will definitely stay here again.
