Everything involved with checking in went swimmingly! Front desk staff was polite, helpful, and personable and this went for restaurant staff and cleaning staff as well. I was immediately informed on how to access the wifi network, and I experienced no drops in speed compared to my own mobile network during my entire stay. The room was spacious, clean, and mine also came with a couch, table, desk and chairs. The bed and bathroom more than met requirements; only thing I missed were maybe a few more hooks in the bathroom. I requested and got a really quiet room in the back (had heard the front could get loud as it's on the busy main street). Slept like a dead log every night! Breakfast was pretty good for a hotel breakfast. Appreciated the hash browns and haggis for the warm breakfast bit. Location was excellent; everything was within 30 minutes of slow walking, which is great for someone with mild mobility issues. I will say the path to the rooms in the back are not dampened so if you wear heavy boots like I do, you WILL be loud no matter how slow and softly you try to tread. Checking out was also a breeze. I inquired about a later check out and the staff was more than happy to see if it was feasible. It was, thankfully, but had it not been possible, I could've left my suitcase in their luggage storage until I had to leave. Definitely recommend staying here and will probably do so again next time I'm visiting Edinburgh.

The hotel and staff were lovely. There was no normal teabags in the room other than herbal tea so I bought my own. The rooms were really noisy, we could hear other guests urinating and as there are no proper handles on the bathroom doors they had to be be slammed shut. Also I was disappointed with the lack of plug sockets in the room, even with the extension lead. I had medical equipment that had to be plugged in and it wouldn’t fit cos of the lack of sockets
