My family and I stayed at the Novotel Edinburgh Centre for four nights, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from start to finish. We arrived on the afternoon of March 8th, only to find that our room wasn’t ready. We were assigned a different room, which was acceptable, but this was just the beginning of a series of issues. That night, our son fell ill with the stomach flu. The next morning, we requested cleaning products so we could manage the situation ourselves, but the front desk refused. Despite requesting housekeeping three times that day, no one came to assist. The pool area was very small and overcrowded, making it unusable for our family as we had hoped. After the third night, we left our luggage at the hotel while we went on a three-day trip. During this time, we had a parcel sent to the hotel. When we returned, the front desk was unable to locate it, creating a frustrating situation. The way the front desk manager handled the situation on March 14th was completely inappropriate. Additionally, on March 9th, the hairdryer in our room malfunctioned, blew up, and caught fire in the room—an extremely dangerous incident that should never happen in a hotel. When we checked out on March 14th, we requested a refund for at least one night due to all these issues. While the hotel offered to refund the fourth night due to the parcel issue, our request for compensation for the other incidents was denied, which we found unprofessional and unsatisfactory. Overall, we expected a much higher standard from Novotel. The lack of proper support during emergencies, combined with safety hazards and poor management, made this stay very disappointing.

We needed a convenient hotel for an event at the Meadowbank sports centre. This was an easy Uber drive away, and also only 10 mins walk from the main restaurants and shopping area. The bonus was the pool, gym and saunarium which, although small, were clean and nice. We ate and had a few drinks in the bar which was well run and reasonably priced.
