Charged twice for parking. Please credit

Poor room selection - platinum member - accessible room, and close to noisy elevator

I have stayed here before and would likely stay again due to the excellent location. You are in very easy walking distance to the centre of Madrid, Retiro Park, plenty of tapas bars and cafes, and many transport links. All the staff I spoke to were lovely, friendly, and very helpful. My room was a good size with a very nice bathroom (which was more modern than the rest of the room); very comfortable bed; bigger fridge than expected; and my room overlooked a inner courtyard which was quieter than one overlooking the street. However, the noise between rooms is very noticeable - even the sound of a light switch being used - and you can hear conversations the cleaning staff are having. I had requested a quiet room and this was definitely more quiet than my previous stay. There was a kettle and coffee machine in my room however only paper cups and cardboard stirrers which felt cheap and not very easy to use. There is also no other facilities I would expect from a 4 star hotel.

The Mercure Madrid Centro offers a comfortable stay, with warm hospitality and a few points that warrant attention. What worked well: the staff is genuinely kind and helpful. I received a package during my stay, and it was delivered directly to my room, which I greatly appreciated. The room is comfortable, with good-quality linens, a safe, a functional wardrobe, and plenty of power outlets, something essential nowadays. The complimentary coffee maker, capsules, teas, and electric kettle are a pleasant touch. The bathroom is inviting, with soft towels and an excellent shower, both in pressure and temperature. What could be improved: the replenishment of coffee and tea was inconsistent, occurring on some days and not on others. The bathroom sink has a visible crack, which conveys a sense of overdue maintenance. Parts of the physical structure and furnishings clearly show signs of age. The floor layout is small, and noise from doors and the elevator is more noticeable than ideal. The internet connection was unstable and dropped several times, making it difficult to work or browse without interruptions. Additionally, I was unable to use my Accor welcome drink because, from what I could tell, the hotel does not have a bar. Overall, it is a hotel with excellent human service and adequate comfort, but it would benefit greatly from a few simple adjustments and greater consistency in the services provided.
