Stayed at the Mercure Madrid Centro for one night as an ALL Plat and was accommodated in a spacious and well-furnished corner "privilege" room. I appreciated the additional amenities, including bedroom slippers, a bathrobe, and a complimentary minibar. The Mercure is well located to many tapas spots which I enjoyed trying, and also within walking distance of Cibeles for the 203 to the Airport. It was also conveniently located for access to Retiro Park. Plaza Mayor and Grand Via were only a short walk away. The staff at the Mercure were friendly, particularly Rowena who checked me in. I would recommend this option for ALL guests looking for a place to stay in Madrid.

Room looks like in an hospital... Manager avoids meeting clients and lies about not being there... Cleaning is just good...

Room is like an hospital room... Management lies not to meet client... Some employees are more lieutenant than employees... They don't care about you status... Forgot to clean the toilets 2 times... Breakfast is really basic... Neighborhood is nice... No lobby and very small restaurant part for breakfast... Some employees are great and sorry about the situations...

The check-in process was a big disappointment. Till 3.30 pm the room was not ready and we had to repeatedly follow up. The reception staff were slow in responding. Room was upto expectations, comfortable bed. Housekeeping slipped up in failing to refill the shower gel containers. We stayed for four nights. The location is its most favourable point.

The mattress was extremely hard and uncomfortable causing both my partner and I back pain that lasted for several days.

Regarding the room upgrade, I would like to clarify that upgrades for all ALL loyalty statuses are always subject to availability. As we are a small hotel that often operates at very high occupancy, it can be challenging to offer complimentary upgrades, even though we always try our best to do so whenever possible. Concerning the rest of the issues mentioned, I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused. I am particularly surprised by your comments about the team, as one of the aspects our guests most frequently highlight is the friendliness, proactive attitude, and customer-service focus of our staff. Nonetheless, I will review your comments carefully with the team to ensure that situations like this do not happen again. We regret that the mattress and linen were uncomfortable for you, and that the housekeeping products caused irritation. We will have our maintenance and housekeeping teams look into these matters immediately. I am also sorry for the confusion regarding bottled water; this should have been communicated more clearly.
