The hotel is extremely comfortable, utilising an historic building in a very clever way, and very conveniently located to explore the wonderful old centre of Metz. The restaurant is excellent, both for the superb breakfast and the dinner menu.

When we arrived, the safe and AC in the room were not working. The safe issue was promptly corrected, but for the AC, when communicated to the front desk, it was not received as not credible, and we were told to be environmentally friendly the hotel was keeping the temperature around 24deg C (it was 25+ degrees C with no ventilation in the room). I asked for another room, but none was available. Then we asked for a fan, that was delivered at a 2nd request. I also share with the staff if things were not improving we either get another room or we change hotel. It was not possible to cool down the room t night by opening windows as only one window could be cracked open. The following day, back from breakfast, maintenance staff was fixing the issue, the ventilation and AC was effectively not working… the manager apologized. In the restaurant the wine list was much more limited than during previous visits and the food not as good. Coming every year at least once in this hotel, it see an overall decline of the customer service. We also have to ask to get the room made when staying several days. The environmental concern seems to be an excuse to decrease customer service and cut cost.

First and foremost, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by the malfunctioning air conditioning system in your room. While our team initially believed the issue was related to the hotel's temperature settings, it was subsequently confirmed by our maintenance department that the ventilation and air conditioning system was indeed not functioning properly. We regret the discomfort this caused and thank you for your patience while the issue was resolved. Regarding our housekeeping policy, we would like to clarify that our stayover cleaning procedure is part of our environmental commitment and Green Key certification. Room servicing is available upon request and is communicated during check-in. This initiative is intended to reduce unnecessary water and energy consumption rather than diminish the quality of service provided to our guests. Nevertheless, we understand that this approach may not meet every guest's expectations, and we appreciate your candid feedback on the matter. We are also sorry to learn that your dining experience did not live up to your previous visits. Your comments regarding both the wine selection and the quality of the food have been shared with our restaurant management team for review. What concerns us most is your feeling that the overall level of customer service has declined. This is certainly not the experience we wish to provide, especially to returning guests such as yourself. Please be assured that your remarks have been carefully considered and will be discussed with our teams as part of our ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the standards expected from an MGallery hotel. We had two issues on this occasion, the first was that we arrived just before 3pm and we were told the hotel had recently changed the check in time to 4pm. Instead of checking to see if the room was already available we were told to go away and come back in an hour. The second issue was that the breakfast was not up to the usual standard for this hotel. The hot food and the coffee were all slightly colder than expected. However, this is generally a good hotel which we often stay in as we drive back and forth between our homes in the UK and Italy.

The hotel is well located near the center of Metz, but also very close to the motorway. I loved the old building, it has a lot more charm than a new glass and steel one. We were afraid we wouldn't find a parking spot, but that wasn't a problem after all. The room (318) was a good size, but it showed signs of damage, especially the bath, which had deep gouges in it. This let the overall experience down. The breakfast was very good and well worth the price.

Overall very friendlly personnel but I was taken a bit aback, and frankly unpleasantly surprised, when I discovered that the bin in the bathroom was still full of personal disposal of the previous guest. The toiled also did not flush correctly.
