The overall stay in this hotel was great. The ladies in check in were fabulous as my allotted room was not ready so they tried to reallocate me one that was. The room was compact but very comfortable. Nice touch there is a free bottle of water in the room and you can refill this (and your own bottle) on the ground floor free of charge. The hotel is also really in a very convenient location near to underground. The bits I didn’t like about the room was the very strange pictures of women on the wall and the shower screen, it’s very odd. I didn’t like the shower, it’s just one over the bath and you need to get so close to get under it you end up continually standing on the drain cover and closing it which is frustrating. I also hate two single duvets on the double bed, I like one big one to cocoon myself in but that’s maybe a personal preference. No wardrobe just hanging hooked in the wall which are ok for a short trip. Wish there was an iron in the rooms.

Another great stay here - room 107 was comfortable, quiet and well located. Comfy bed, everything you need for a few days in the city. Close to KaDeWe, plenty shops and bars and places to eat nearby. Air con was great as was warm weekend. Highly recommend and will be back, again!!

The Mercure Wittenbergplatz Berlin, despite its 4-star rating, falls short of expectations in several key areas. Staff interactions were consistently frustrating, with a lack of helpfulness and an air of annoyance that made me feel unwelcome. The nighttime switch from a trained receptionist to a security guard without hospitality expertise was especially jarring. Basic amenities like toiletries had to be requested from the reception instead of being readily available in the room. While I understand the potential environmental benefits, the execution was inconvenient and unprofessional. Additionally, the hotel's overall condition suggests a much-needed renovation. Based on my experience, I doubt the Mercure Wittenbergplatz would retain its 4-star rating upon re-inspection by German Authorities. It seems the hotel is prioritizing profit over guest comfort, employing undertrained staff and removing complimentary items to the detriment of the guest experience. This is not the level of quality I expect from a Mercure hotel.

The majority of our guests praised the friendliness and helpfulness of our team. You can also see this on all review platforms. It would be helpful to know what exactly happened that you got no help. The decision to no longer keep the free additional products in the room but at reception is a brand decision and is also related to our upcoming sustainability certification. This is also in line with our 4-star certification by the DeHoGa. We are also surprised by your impression of the need for renovation throughout the hotel. Many guests rate our hotel as “newly opened” or “freshly renovated” even after 8 years. Neither the room you stayed in nor other areas show any need for renovation. Details would be very important for us to understand your point of view. Stay 3 nights in a business trip, the hotel is very good, comfortable, beautiful, very good breakfast but expensive! Sound insulation not perfect, the celebration of football game was disturbing a little (I was in the first floor with window to the square in front of the hotel). In the end was a good experience.
