I have booked 2 nights to celebrate the Valentine’s Day with my wife , unfortunately our stay was horrible it was all about maintenance technicians coming in and out of our room spending time in the room more than us!! With no solutions although the number of the technicians were getting increased but nothing got fixed!! We kept calling all the extensions ( reception, room dining, housekeeping, concierge, and also we called the hotel from our mobile number, but no answer at all) We heard nothing from the reception team nor the manager no follow up at all after 40 min we couldn’t breathe because of the smell of the technicians it was awful so we left the room and went down, we explained that the washing area has no cold water and the heater is ON with no any chance to switch off or to adjust so they had to switched it OFF manually because they couldn’t fix it. Thuryah who introduced herself as the duty Manager chose to go up to see what’s wrong leaving us for almost half an hour without saying anything or offering a glass of water! When we started to ask the staff about what’s happening we already spent 40 minutes in the room and now more that half an hour they asked her to come to the front desk when she showed up she said I’ll upgrade you!!! Seriously!! That supposed to be done from the start, you should not leaving your guests spending all this time in the reception that was unprofessional leaving the area without telling them that you will check to see whatever they are telling the truth or not and letting them questioning everyone around to know what’s the next step right now?? While we were packing to move to the other room I asked her for a complementary breakfast since we had our breakfast this morning dine in she was like it’s very difficult, but I will try. She ignored us, never get back to us.when we met her tomorrow afternoon she was like “I left the answer with the reception in case if you pass by tomorrow morning, they will tell you that your request was rejected” WOW how unprofessional was that ! You won’t get that kind of treatment even in a motel !! So our upgraded room has a totally different story, no hot water at all and also couldn’t be fixed from 10 pm until we checked out !! She has done nothing to make up for us also when we have explained everything to Ahmed Alamri he was like” you have paid your stay so I have nothing to do now” Important to know: While we were packing to move to the other room I asked her for a complementary breakfast since we had our breakfast this morning dine in she said “it’s very difficult, but I will try”. She ignored us, never get back to us. When we met her tomorrow afternoon she explained that “I left the answer with the reception in case if you pass by tomorrow morning, they will tell you that your request was rejected” WOW how unprofessional was that ! You won’t get that kind of treatment even in a motel !! I Stayed in Sofitel hotels in several cities all over the world it’s my favorite, but I haven’t experienced such an unprofessional staff dealing with the guests that way, My experience in such an important occasion was horrible. I would never recommend the Hotel to any of my friends or relatives and I believe that you should train your stuff or change them if necessary because they will affect your reputation. The room was very fancy and comfortable. A few minor points to note: the provided iron is a steam iron, and it would be better to have a regular iron and ironing board. Also, despite the high room rate, there is no hospitality of any kind or complmintary stuff. The biggest disappointment came at checkout when they demanded I pay for items from the minibar that I hadn't taken or used. They insisted on payment after speaking with the supervisor, which left me extremely frustrated and angry. The hotel management lacks clear policies, and the staff is poorly trained in customer service and fails to check the room's contents before handing it over. I don't think I'll ever stay at the Sofitel Riyadh again. A guest who pays $1300 for a night's stay shouldn't steal $20 worth of items from the minibar and be treated in such a humiliating way in front of everyone.
